Major Responsibilities:

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER: SUPPLY CHAIN

SUMMARY This position leads the development and maintenance of an accurate and effective Work Measurement System and ensures effective productivity measurements are established for identified functions through time studies and frequency studies conducted in the Distribution Center. Leads in the design, evaluation, training, and revision of all work methods, workflow, productivity, job functions, physical layout and equipment. Establishes and maintains Best Methods for all job functions. Assists in the development of Distribution Center and capital budgets. Works effectively with external resources (consultants and contractors) to ensure collaborative partnerships to meet business requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Other duties may be assigned.

Lead the evaluation and subsequent revision of all work methods and workflow for all functions to ensure they are ergonomically correct

Lead the training of management and hourly workforce on productivity and work methods

Lead and perform the analysis, recommendation, and implementation of enhancements to existing work methods flows and processes to increase throughput

Lead the efforts to develop and design Distribution Center and office area layouts

Lead the collection of data to assist in the development of Distribution Center and capital budgets

Lead the analysis and cost justification on all capital project requests

Lead the design, selection and installation of material handling equipment incorporated into existing, new and expanded distribution centers

Lead the research of technological advances in material handling systems to develop cost-effective improvements to operating methods and procedures to support purchase recommendations

Accountable for maintaining budget on all projects and ensuring the company is obtaining the most cost effective price

Lead Industrial Engineering activities and direct clerical staff as needed

Implement TM incentive program using engineered standards as directed by SC team

Develop daily manpower planning tool for various DC processes to better utilize labor

Constantly evaluate product flow, staging areas, storage space and fulfillment methods for improvement opportunities

Proactively monitor SKU velocity and other sales events to properly slot SKUs for efficient Fulfillment

Periodically evaluate opportunities for SKU consolidations and re-warehousing for efficient storage and Fulfillment

Proactively set up new SKUs to facilitate smooth flow of inventory into the DC

Promptly process and address exceptions

Equipment operation - pallet jack, forklift, order picker, reach truck, etc.

Interface with DC and Line management on issues and opportunities

With the direction of SC support team, identify and implement distribution and storage process improvements that increase capacity, reduce cost and improve accuracy.

Good verbal and written skills to communicate with TMs and all levels of management

Assist with resolving difficulties and in developing new methods and procedures

Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others

Flexible to work on various shifts as needed

Bilingual Team Members (particularly Spanish-speaking), may be strongly desired based upon work location.

EDUCATION AND OR EXPERIENCE Undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering and three to five years directly related work experience with the following:

Experience with work measurement methodologies and tools with an emphasis on TIME STUDY expertise required

Experience in projects related to process design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction and project implementation required

Experience managing and directing the efforts of Industrial Engineers in a labor standards environment required

Experience in best methods development

Experience in the development of a management observation program

Experience in the development of an accountability program

Experience with productivity tracking, data collection systems

Experience with Standard Data and Predetermined Time Systems Experience performing cost analysis for project justification

Strong ability to gather, analyze and interpret information and develop, recommend and implement solutions while maintaining budget.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information to: peers, managers, and corporate leadership.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and statistics.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must demonstrate business acumen in understanding and applying corporate goals, strategies and initiatives.
