Job Description:

The IT Senior Portfolio Manager provides portfolio planning and management for the IT organization. This role will be accountable for the successful delivery of a portfolio that meets the strategic needs of a business unit. This position will provide internal consulting to the IT leadership team and next tier reports with meaningful and actionable insights and analysis around both long term and short term portfolio planning.  They will own the processes to develop multi-year strategic roadmaps, management of the annual approved digital capability investment portfolio, management of the portfolio finances, investment governance, and benchmarking/metrics.

The role requires the individual to successfully balance the flexibility of meeting the needs of a specific business/IT area while maintaining the consistency of practices required by a centralized portfolio management group. This role will report into the Head of IT Portfolio Management.

Specific activities include, but are not limited to: 

Partners with IT leadership to develop & maintain the IT strategic plan

Plans investments & facilitates tracking of outcomes realization

Drives annual investment process and ensures spend is within budget

Orchestrates Investment Governance processes

Demonstrates strategic financial planning & leadership skills

Conducts portfolio scenario analysis to inform IT leaders of recommendations, potential opportunities, relevant risks, and trade-offs to optimize the digital capability investment portfolio

Demonstrates strategic financial planning & leadership skills

Manages the planning and management at the portfolio level: tracking of actuals and accruals; month end reporting and variance analysis; reconciliation with Finance during budgets and projections. 

In conjunction with IT BP’s, approves spend on all projects 

In conjunction with project lead, responsible for managing expenses to budget and then using that data for financial analysis which is rolled up to overall portfolio reporting on monthly basis 

Drives the annual strategic planning and budgeting processes 

Owns business outcomes framework, including the co-development of project business cases and the tracking/monitoring of project business outcomes

Participates in audits of the business function as needed

Liaison with Finance, Global Procurement and Legal to support portfolio planning and management activities

Leads various portfolio management activities involving a large number of individuals within an organization with minimal direction and/or supervision.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science , Master of Science in IT, Engineering, Finance or related discipline

7 or more years of experience in project and portfolio management

MBA a plus

Experience managing project and/or portfolio finance and resourcing

Ability to influence senior leaders and work across multi-disciplined groups

Operates independently within the guidelines of overall objectives

Excellent command of the portfolio

Appropriately raises and escalates issues and/or risks and challenge assumptions where appropriate.

Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and a commitment to process quality

Excellent interpersonal and team working skills are required, as are strong verbal and written communication skills.
