IT Business Analyst

We seek a highly motivated, and uniquely creative, software business analyst to join our Customer Integration Technology development team and supporting our Managed Services (TMC) business. This role requires a highly motivated driven person looking for a challenging and rewarding environment that has an entrepreneurial culture that promotes creativity, personal initiative, team collaboration, and fun. The Customer Integration Technology team is C.H. Robinsons messaging authority for trading partner integration. We provide a full suite of electronic data exchange solutions including message management, transformation, routing, security, and monitoring. Our goal is to provide electronic integration solutions that minimize manual effort, reduce total operational costs, and increase the speed of C.H. Robinsons global logistics operations. You will work in a demanding and exciting environment that is creative, detail oriented, and absolutely vital to the success and strength of the company.


Leads multiple mid to large sized highly complex electronic integration projects

Guides, mentors, and provides work direction to other team members

Facilitates team meetings, design discussions and participates in stand-up meetings

Advocates, educates and trains external partners on electronic integration lifecycle best practices

Identifies, analyzes, and understands business problems and synthesizes information from multiple sources

Elicits and captures requirements for projects with a high degree of complexity

Builds relationships and trust with the internal and external partners and team

Learns how data impacts business operations for internal and external customers and trading partner(s)

Consults on the technical needs to build innovative customized integration solutions that meet customer and trading partner system and/or business requirements

Drives and leads collaboration with other business analysts, architects, software engineers, and EDI developers to translate requirements into system designs and solutions

Manages day-to-day project tasks for integrating electronic solutions, and holding teams accountable to deliverables

Responsible for keeping stakeholders informed; communicating project status, mitigating risks and resolving technical impediments and issues

Partners with the team(s) to identify, mitigate and escalate project risks

Coordinates and communicates necessary changes for team to be efficient, effective and work with a sense of urgency

Manages business and technical risk areas with thorough testing, validation of the end to end data flow, and directs team on any required technical bug fixes related to implementation

Monitors and radiates appropriate information regarding project progress

Proactively maintains an understanding of CHR business practices and technologies


Strong written and verbal communication skills, specifically the ability to take technical details and make them understandable to non-technical internal and external facing individuals at different levels

Must be a strong facilitator; adept at running meetings across multiple teams for elicitation and management of business requirements, and balancing priorities for integrations

Proven track record of effectively delivering results in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities concurrently

Proven ability to quickly learn and become proficient in multiple new and existing custom enterprise applications and functionalities, and apply to electronic integration setups

Possesses a broad spectrum of knowledge crossing modes of transportation, applications, software, and business processes

Ability to think strategically, demonstrate ROI awareness, and is detail oriented

Should be a self-starter and able to work efficiently under minimal supervision

Excellent team player, successful experience working as a contributing member of a team

Highly proficient in Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint

Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years of business analyst, software or customer implementation experience

Experience with sourcing, logistics, and/or supply chain businesses

Demonstrated ability to implement complex, large scale solutions

Possesses advanced process mapping skills

Business and/or technical knowledge of transportation management systems

Business and/or technical knowledge of purchase order management systems

Experience with delimited flat files, XML, EDI X12, EDIFACT, iDOC, and other standard data exchange formats

Experience with Agile and SDLC methodologies

Experience with implementing in-house ERP systems and working knowledge of API, SaaS, SAP, and/or Oracle

Ability to understand and use basic SQL

Familiarity with communication protocols (AS2, FTP, VAN, web services)

Required Education:

Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
