The HR Specialist 2 Mileage Sales / CTSC acts as senior business partner and consultant in the COO HR organisation.
They will collaborate with HR, Region and Center Leadership to provide support for key Human Resource and business imperatives focusing on Talent, Leadership, Organization and Culture. This role will have responsibilities around compliance, associate relations, performance management, merit planning, affirmative action, staffing, safety, training, engagement and partnership with our payroll and benefit providers.
The position will also be charged with the design and implementation of significant projects that will add strategic value to the entire COO organization. They will play a key role in mentoring and helping direct work of team members in strong partnership with the HRM (while continuing to be a strong individual contributer in the HR Specialist function).
The HR Specialist Mileage Sales / CTSC will have full knowledge of both CTSC and Mileage Sales policies and procedures to provide direction to management and associates as needed. The position will be the primary specialist on the application of those policies, including disciplinary outcomes.
Act as a business partner to the management team in the field on people, social, and organizational issues. Give direction to managers based on company policy, collective bargaining agreements, applicable laws and past practices. Analyze talent strategies/staffing levels for optimal productivtiy for the business. Drive successsion planning process for key talent pools. Align training and development resources/programs and plans to ensure ready now successors within the businesses and all associates. Lead Key HR projects like Turn Over reduction, Onboarding improvement, policy and procedure alignment, and various others depending on changing business needs and objectives.
Manage associate relations with business leadership. Act as a collaborative partner to the management team in the field on people, social, and organizational issues. Provide direction to managers based on company policy, collective bargaining agreements, applicable laws and past practices. This may include employee complaint investigations with appropriate follow-up through collaboration with Goodyear's legal counsel. Provide careful review and approval of disciplinary actions and terminations and make recommendations for corrective action based on past practice and company policy. This may require on-site visits to operation locations to maintain employee relations and audit sandards and policy compliance.
Maintain compliance to internal and external standards. Including but not limited to EEOC, Affirmative Action, OSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Transit Authority (FTA), Business Ethics, corporate HR initiatives and processes and employment/labor laws. This also includes review and approval of transfers, promotions and pay increases. Assist the HRM on ensuring team assignments stay on track and are accomplished with quality results.
Facilitate performance management processes across the organization to recognize high potential associates and address low performers. Drive process compliance, ensure proper associate feedback to progress toward a high performance organizational culture. Help identify and coach talent to align to HR department goals and Goodyear values
Partners with the Enviornmental, Health and Safety Manager to ensure appropriate procedures, practices and training are implemented and followed consistently.
5-8 years’ experience as an HR Professional, required. PHR/SHRM Certification, preferred.
Experience within retail, mulit-unit or multi-state organization, preferred
Proven experience with Microsoft Office suite
Experience wih both union and non-union environments, preferred
Experience with investigation, analyzing and solving complex associate relations issues
Through knowledge of state and federal employment laws, preferred
Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards
A strategic planner with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgement and strong operational focus
An articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality for sensitive information

Looking back, the founding of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1898 seems especially remarkable, for the beginning was anything but auspicious. The 38-year-old founder, Frank A. Seiberling, purchased the company’s first plant with a $3,500 down payment -- using money he borrowed from a brother-in-law Lucius C. Miles. The rubber and cotton that were the lifeblood of the industry had to be transported from halfway around the world, to a landlocked town that had only limited rail transportation. Even the man the company’s name memorialized, Charles Goodyear, had died penniless 30 years earlier despite his discovery of vulcanization after a long and courageous search.
