The company had $222 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2015.The Role As a National Account Underwriting Consultant you will be responsible for analyzing risk, determining appropriate plan designs, negotiating pricing levels and finding alternative solutions while balancing the divisions sales and retention goals. You will work closely with senior management on complex and multimillion dollar accounts and be expected to make effective decisions and recommendations.Functional ResponsibilitiesAnalysisAnalyzes specifications of non-experience rated and experience rated cases, particularly large and\/or complex cases, using underwriting guidelines to determine eligibility and pricing Evaluates non-standard exceptions according to underwriting guidelinesConducts detailed review of competitor contracts and experience and determines how it applies to Lincolns offerings. Reviews census and occupational data as well as demographic trends to determine appropriate pricing levelsPrepares proposals by reviewing quote requests from brokers and marketing representatives, analyzes group statistical data, actuarial reports and market information to determine plan designs and pricing levels.Accountable for underwriting amendments and renewals on an assigned block of active cases.Reviews sold policies, amendments and renewals to ensure appropriate pricing and coverageNegotiationNegotiates benefits and pricing with brokers and internal sales representatives based on our product offerings, underwriting guidelines and pricing strategiesContributes to sales team in meeting key growth goals by answering questions and requests, explaining pricing rationale, and educating them on underwriting products, policies and proceduresCommunicates frequently by telephone and written correspondence with internal and external customers to clarify and resolve underwriting questionsTravels occasionally to customers' and Field offices to make presentations, meet customer needs, and represent the company at industry meetingsCollaborationSupports underwriting organization at all levels during National Account non-peak season to ensure quote turnaround times are effectively metParticipates in projects to improve product offerings, customer experience and underwriting efficiencyDevelops positive internal and external relationshipsRequirements Education 4 Year\/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (4 yrs of experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree)Experience 3 5 years of Group Insurance underwriting experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities in this positionLife and Disability product knowledge required. Dental product knowledge may be consideredA demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and\/or exceeding performance expectationsPossesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractionsDrives performance targets to completionThis position may be subject to Lincolns Political Contribution Policy.
