The Global Category Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager will report into the Marketing vertical lead within Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) and will be responsible for $280M spend in Market Research & Data which includes: Data Acquisition (Clinical & Commercial), Data Support (Clinical & Commercial), Primary Market Research and Secondary / Syndicated Research; and, will be accountable for developing and managing the overall sourcing and supplier management processes for this category.

Strategic Contribution

Design and develop the category sourcing strategy for Market Research & Data

Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and report procurement progress

Act as a trusted business advisor providing thought leadership and consistent customer service whilst delivering qualitative and quantitative value to the bottom line through cost savings and transformation through innovation

Provide subject matter advise to internal (GSS) and external stakeholder groups

Lead and influence stakeholder groups with sound and articulate recommendations through to supplier selection

Delivering Value for Customers

Acts as an ambassador for the GSS function with the business

Demonstrated connected thinking and strategy beyond the category with pull through

Drive operating efficiencies by understanding evolving and complex business needs and supply markets

Access supplier capability and innovation for the business

Manage, minimize and mitigate supply/contractual risk leveraging key functions where appropriate (Legal, Compliance, Audit etc.)

Provides structured management and accurate progress reporting on all projects

Achieve value targets continually developing new and innovative sourcing strategies to address the category as it evolves

Lead complex RFP including strong commercial negotiations, supporting the team with data analytics, leading supplier evaluations and shepherding the contractual negotiations in collaboration with stakeholders and business partners (Legal, Compliance, Audit etc).

Developing Category Strategies

Deliver customer solutions via multi-year category strategies in alignment with your stakeholder annual plans

Lead with oversight to the overall sourcing process for your category across multiple functional groups including ex-US regions

Build a pipeline of category projects as the global lead in collaboration with procurement leader peers and key stakeholders

Bring industry/business function-specific knowledge and experience

Customize sourcing strategy to drive value in specific functional environment, including legal & regulatory context

Initiate/build industry peer relationships bringing back best practice/innovation for the category

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Sourcing plus any combination of Finance, Management Consulting and Market Research & Data experience

OR,

Master's degree and 6 years of Sourcing plus any combination of Finance, Management Consulting and Market Research & Data experience

OR,

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Sourcing plus any combination of Finance, Management Consulting and Market Research & Data experience

Preferred Qualifications

Solid understanding of procurement/sourcing/category management methodology

Excellent and disciplined project management and prioritization skills with ability to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently

Can conform to shifting priorities and have ability to drive multiple simultaneous project implementations

Strong commercial acumen in order to drive sourcing and demand management strategies across the Market Research & Data category

Understanding and experience with Data related to integration and management

Experience with key suppliers related to Data Acquisition and Data Support

Proven ability to deliver complex multi-regional and/or global projects in a matrixed and global environment

Track record in establishing strong SOW/SLAs and ensuring supplier performance

Strong negotiation skills and technical procurement skills

Demonstrated experience in identifying and utilizing full set of sourcing levers to drive value for customers

Broad knowledge of the market forces shaping a customer's business context (e.g. supplier base, legal & regulatory environment, sources of competitive advantage)

Ability to conduct benchmarking to address cost, quality, risk and innovation considerations

Ability to provide thought leadership, ability to influence and actively shape strategy

A sourcing expert with strong financial acumen and problem solving skills

Strong interpersonal skills with a global mindset and able to develop clear thinking and prioritize

Strong oral and written communication skills

Change Management

Independent self-starter and able to motivate others to accomplish ambiguous tasks

Ability to lead teams in a matrix organization, across geographies and functional reporting lines

Demonstrated track record of identifying root causes to issues and proactively problem solving

Change management experience with large and complex organizational transformations

Demonstrated success in partnering cross-functionally

Ability to own and strengthen relationships with key customers

Compelling and persuasive communicator (oral and written) with excellent interpersonal skills

Analytical & Technical

Knowledge of sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management

Ability to analyze data and present insights based on the needs of the audience

Ability to develop business cases and champion opportunities with quantifiable financial benefits

Understands the Source to Pay processes including managing sourcing projects in Ariba, including the execution of online RFx and e-Auctions

Proficiency in MS Office tools, ERP systems etc.

CPM qualification (US) or CIPS qualification (UK) is desirable
