Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc. (NYSE: JLL), a global real estate services firm, is seeking a part-time GIS/Data Visualization intern ( /15 hours per week) starting in January 2018 in our Tysons, VA office. The intern will be involved with web map creation, maintenance, support, analysis and presentation utilizing ESRI products and JLL’s proprietary geospatial mapping tool. The role will support Brokerage professionals and business pursuits in our Mid-Atlantic offices.The Intern will contribute to best in class research and data visualization products that differentiate JLL and build and maintain a competitive advantage in the commercial real estate marketplace through market expertise, analysis, and insight. The role will not only help JLL in broadening our market-leading Research platform, but give the candidate a strong analytical and organizational learning experience in the commercial real estate sector with a Fortune 500 company. Essential functions:
Responsible for information design utilizing the company’s geospatial mapping tool (“Blackbird”) in combination with other graphics tools.
Production of dynamic mapping products covering commercial real estate and other relevant subjects
Responsible for the maintenance, storage, and retrieval of data “layers” used as components of Geospatial presentations relating to commercial real estate.
Create layers and accumulate the information populating these layers as required.
Organizes and loads research data into the geospatial tool.
Maintains a well-organized and searchable database of layers
Work closely with the Mid-Atlantic GIS\\BI team to implement new solutions, ideas and best practices.
Compile geographic data from a variety of sources to improve industry and market knowledge
Conform to QA/QC processes to maintain integrity of mapping resources and geospatial data
Experience and qualifications:
Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, business, economics, or related field required.
Junior or Senior year of college preferred
High proficiency in ArcGIS and related software
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and DBMS a plus
Willingness to Understanding of real estate markets and dedication to learning local markets and business.
Working knowledge of KML, HTML, SQL
Knowledge of Python and R a major plus
Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time and workload
Ability to both work independently and collaboratively in a team.
High-level analytical and problem-solving skills and strategic-thinking capacity
Experienced, polished and innovative presentation skills
