Job Description

Allstate Benefit Sales build relationships with Agents and Brokers across the country and support them, which contributes to premium growth for Allstate Benefits in the voluntary market.

Job Summary

The primary objective of the Field Vice President (FVP) is to generate profitable growth and increased market share within an assigned geographical territory. To comprehend the overall corporate sales strategy and effectively develop and implement a strategic business plan to meet those objectives. To meet the territory sales goals and expectations for the territory by effectively communicating sales goals and objectives to territory personnel under the FVP leadership. The FVP must maintain strong business relationships and through leadership, gain alignment and momentum in delivering Company distribution and service goals. This position reports directly to the EVP Distribution.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Directors and Lead Marketing Coordinator directly report to the FVP

Leads all distribution-related activity for National Accounts (Blue Chip/Large Brokers, Designer Space)

Develops strategic business plan (production, retention, education, and profitability) for all targeted lines of business.

Has responsibility for generating profitable growth

Provide leadership and development to all territory personnel.

Has responsibility for meeting expense plan for their selves and their territory.

Implements production and education strategies to achieve and sustain business plan objectives.

Works with senior distribution leaders to translate strategic business plan into clear objectives, tactics, and specific action plans to achieve goals.

Directs the deployment of Allstate resources and distribution points to maximize areas of opportunity.

Oversees and manages the communication of sales data and other key information to ensure distribution leaders and producers are well educated, motivated, and supported in a timely manner.

Communicates key strategies and initiatives to all distribution channels.

Champions new ideas and initiatives; identifies and actualizes new business opportunities; fosters innovation and calculated risk-taking.

Builds and maintains relationships with senior management and influences company officers.

Sets operational parameters for collaborative efforts and teams within and across functional lines.

Treats producers in a manner consistent with their respective agreements with the Company.

Fosters a collaborative working relationship with Distribution Support and other areas of responsibility/centers of expertise in Home Office.AORAAAOR

Develops and implements education and development plans for distribution leaders

Fosters an environment that encourages continuous growth and professional development for self and all direct reports.

Works with other senior leaders to develop succession plans and mentoring programs.

Blends people into teams when needed; creates strong morale and spirit, defines success in terms of the whole team; creates a feeling of belonging in the team; etc.

Has responsibility for the development of direct reports

Monitors and evaluates distribution leaders on performance against annual plans and provides coaching and constructive feedback as appropriate.

Has responsibility for conducting progress reviews, providing constructive feedback and recommending merit increases, promotions and terminations for direct reports

Job Qualifications

Experience and Knowledge

Advanced knowledge of individual and group products as well as Payroll Allotment and Section 125

Strong sales, communication and relationship building skills

At least 10 years of previous experience in the recruitment and management of an insurance sales force

College degree

Professional designations, such as CLU and ChFC are desired. If not completed, you should actively pursue completion of one of these designations

Strong work ethic

Analytical and Technical Skills

Understanding of pricing, claims, contract provisions, support resources, agency systems, financial analysis, sales trend analysis and marketing data.

Ability to analyze, assemble & deliver information.

Extensive Voluntary Insurance product knowledge.

Knowledge of the industry, including competitors and trends (benchmarking).

Knowledge of all aspects of sales process and drivers (shop, buy, cross-sell, retain, profitability, etc.)

In-depth knowledge of the Allstate Workplace Division business model.

Non-technical Skills

Superior interpersonal skills – Can quickly develop relationships and inspire trust.

Strong communication skills - Includes presentation, business writing, negotiation, motivation and relationship management.

Problem solving – Uses seasoned judgment by applying broad knowledge and experience when addressing complex issues.
