Job Summary
The Financial Analyst III performs financial analyses (e.g., client level profitability, variance comments, trend analysis, financial statement accuracy, asset expenditures, etc.) across various product and sector groups. He/She oversees the preparation of reports, graphs, charts, and written financial summaries. This position reviews general finance and accounting processes including researching, analyzing, creating, and processing monthly journal entries. The Financial Analyst III supports a defined operational group and communicates with various management levels. He/She acts as the key Finance and Accounting liaison with the Operations team in areas of financial training, generalfinancial statement support, client pricing efforts, General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls (e.g., revenue recovery,Accounts Receivables [AR], audits, billing adjustments, etc.), forecasting, and annual budgeting. This position oversees specialists and other supervisors within the department.
The Financial Analyst III reviews the creation of financial reports for internal and external customers to provide information on performance. He/She oversees the production of financial reports to explain variances between business plan and forecast, actual results, and trends. This position develops and maintains planning tools (e.g., Khalix, etc.) and templates to utilize in planning and forecasting. The Financial Analyst III serves as a subject matter expert on proper controls and adherence (e.g., standard month-end entries according to GAAP, etc.) to ensure proper financial and accounting standards are utilized.
Other Duties

Supports the development and documentation of policies and procedures to ensure consistency in financial processes (e.g., sales tax, client rebates, proper general ledger coding, etc.).
Conducts financial ratio and metric analysis to track profitability.
Uses internal systems tools (e.g., Oracle, Brio, etc.) and external systems tools (e.g., internet, government sites, banks sites, etc.) to conduct detailed analysis of client profitability.
Serves as a trainer on financial concepts and accounting processes for the Operations team to improve profitability.
Develops and conducts systems training to ensure users effectively utilize tools provided.
Determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans.
Conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement.
Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.

 Preferred Competencies

Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrates a broad business and accounting knowledge; describes methods in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Conducts Research: Uses the research problem to guide relevant data gathering and benchmarking; develops a working knowledge of literature related to the research problem; minimizes personal biases that may impact the research process or outcomes; gathers data that represent all sides of the business case.
Detail Orientation: Distinguishes between “big picture” concepts and comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; notes the specifics of events and experiences; explains, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail.
Finance Knowledge: Accurately reads and interprets financial reports and statements; demonstrates an understanding of relevant financial measures, revenue and cost drivers; applies financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives.
Report Generation: Generates reports in appropriate format using basic software; reviews reports to ensure accuracy and completeness; identifies issues with report generation (e.g., missing variables, incorrect data, etc.)
Supply Chain Management: Demonstrates a basic understanding of supply chain concepts; identifies issues within a supply chain.


Bachelor's Degree – Business Administration - Preferred
Bachelor's Degree – Finance - Preferred
Bachelor's Degree – Accounting - Preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office and SQL - Preferred
