The Estimator Apprentice reports to and takes direction from the Chief Estimator. The primary responsibility of an Estimator is to assist with estimating projects of medium size and complexity.
Participates in professional development and mentorship opportunities

Completes assigned tasks on time, with quality work.
Develop knowledge of the structural steel fabrication and erection industry and the basics of estimating.
Assist with estimating projects from bidding through pre-award.
Work with sales staff to ensure accurate and complete estimates are made at bid time.
Read blueprints to create accurate estimates.
Perform takeoffs for structural steel fabrication and erection.
Assists with quantity estimates for incorporation into cost estimates and/ or project budgets
Assists in developing project cost estimates, and revisions to reflect contract scope changes and extra work orders
Maintains files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures
Participates in developing project update and bid package estimate documents.
The responsibility for safety and safe work performance lies with each individual. Each worker must work closely with the job site supervisors to ensure a safe work environment. Refer to Section 2.9.1 of the JV Driver Health & Safety Manual for a description of responsibilities.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Post-secondary education in Construction Management or related field is highly preferred.
