Overview

The successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of all aspects of structural testing including coupon, component, full-scale, and drop testing. The successful candidate should be able to design, develop, and implement testing methods from internal and external customers. The successful candidate should also have a thorough understanding of system testing. This is a multidisciplinary position that will require the candidate to work closely with colleagues across many functions including, Design, Stress, Information Technology, Operations, and Procurement. The preferred candidate would be able to design and/or specify requirements for all types of structural and system testing; define/communicate requirements for strain gages, accelerometers, thermocouples, and other instrumentation; collaborate with other engineers, procurement personnel, and other staff members involved in new business proposals and capital equipment purchases.

Responsibilities

The Structural test engineer will support existing and future testing activities in the Product Development Center in Red Oak, Texas. Due to the current and projected work load on the Sikorsky, Embraer, Global Hawk, and proposed programs, the Structural Test group needs an additional Structural test engineer who can quickly join our team and be productive. Assist on current and projected Programs the Test and Certification effort to include coupon, element, subcomponent and component/system qualification, large scale structural testing, as well as full-scale aircraft structures and systems testing including fatigue flight testing. Prepare estimates/justifications, ROI and budget/schedule accountability.

Qualifications

Candidate should have a minimum of a BS degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil engineering and thirteen (13) years' experience;

The preferred candidate should have the following skills:

  • CATIA V4 and V5
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-tasks multiple projects
  • Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing
  • Create test plans and test reports
