Position Description

Primary purpose:

This position is responsible for providing facilities engineering and project management support for the safe and efficient construction of oil and gas facilities. Position level commensurate with experience and skill set. Midland, TX may be considered as the work location for this position.

Essential duties and responsibilities:


Leads team efforts to maintain the Kinder Morgan CO2 EHS goal of Target 0

Identify and schedule outside training courses to advance technical skills and development

Completes facilities engineering and project management assignments of variable scope and complexity

Supervise construction crews

Leads engineering projects related to gas plants, pipelines, gathering systems, compressor facilities and other production/processing related facilities in CO2 flood assets

Works with CO2 flood asset production and operations teams to develop project scope and cost estimates

Leads procurement efforts related to facilities projects listed above

Develop and utilize tools for cost tracking from project inception through completion

Provide regular reports and updates to management on project execution and financial status

Position Requirements



Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, Electrical or Chemical preferred) from an accredited institution.

Experience / specific knowledge:


1-5 years of engineering or project management experience in the oil and gas and/or pipeline industry

Experience applying industry and/or company standard techniques to provide recommendations for solutions to problems

Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)

- Experience with process simulation software preferred (HYSYS, Unisim, ChemCAD, ProMax, etc.)

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

- Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record

Competencies, skills, and abilities:


Must be an excellent team player willing to lead and/or take part in a multidisciplinary team as required

Works with draftspersons, technicians, and other engineers to complete projects

Works with moderate direction

Works on multiple projects simultaneously

- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical demands:


Safety sensitive position

Significant travel to field operations and construction sites. Will occasionally work in inclement weather

- Must occasionally lift loads up to 50 lbs

Working conditions:


50/50 office and job site (outdoor) work locations

Working after hours, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call as needed

Some project locations may require vehicle travel greater than 100 miles

- Overnight travel is occasionally required depending on project needs

Supervisory responsibility:


Will supervise contractors on a regular basis

- Will be tasked with leading inter company teams made up of multiple disciplines and experience levels on an as needed basis

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities above the minimum requirements (not required but advantageous in this position):


PE and PMP certifications considered a plus but are not required

Proficiency with Microsoft Project or Primavera software

Proficiency with AutoCAD or other drafting software packages
