Employee Relations Manager

Job Description

Visa is seeking an Employee Relations Manager in our Austin office to partner with leaders to provide

consultation on employee relations issues.

In addition to an employee relations background this role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills that enables the individual to work successfully on a variety of employee relations matters and team projects.

This role will serve as a trusted partner to effectively managing complex employee relations, providing employee and management coaching, facilitation of performance improvement plans, investigations, and policy management while serving as a trusted partner across the organization.

Responsibilities 

Provide consultative support for the resolution on a variety of matters including performance management and addressing challenging interactions

Partner with managers to address gaps in performance including drafting performance improvement plans, written warnings, and facilitating the necessary communications to drive an effective outcome.

Conduct workplace investigations in complex situations, demonstrating effective listening, probing and investigatory skills with the ability to synthesize data, identify root problems/causes, and recommend actions to resolve in partnership with Legal and Business Conduct Office

Analyze and track ER trends to proactively create a positive organizational culture and builds manager capabilities, including external trends and best practices

Management of policy programs in conjunction with Legal, Compliance and relevant stakeholders

Participate in planning, developing and recommending effective employee relations programs, policies and procedures

Foster a client-focused environment and mindset to ensure delivery of an exceptional employee experience

Respond thoughtfully to questions related policy, programs, and general inquiries by employees related to via “AskHR” online ticket system

Manage workplace accommodation requests including facilitating an interactive process as needed

Provide detailed tracking and documentation cases through appropriate spreadsheets and portals

Lead/support HR projects and initiatives as needed

Skills

Strong process orientation and demonstrated knowledge of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices.

Effective leadership qualities; ability to influence effectively without direct management authority; experience managing conflict to achieve project goals; transparency with management and stakeholders.

Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative professional business relationships with all levels of management, employees and outside companies.

Strong organization skills; ability to multi-task; show initiative and work aggressively to meet deadlines.

Superior written and verbal communication skills; effective and confident presentation skills.

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project); technologically savvy.

Good judgment, strong common sense, and excellent attention to detail.

Proactive and solution-oriented, solid analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to think strategically.

Ability to work independently, yet seamlessly integrate activities with other teams when needed.

Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes in priorities, work demands, roles and responsibilities.

Experience engaging, negotiating with and managing vendors.

Demonstrated understanding of corporate protocol, maintains a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

Proven ability to make judgment calls and sound, ethical decisions displaying a heightened level of responsibility, confidentiality, integrity and professionalism

Strong attention to detail and high work standards in support of accurate, flawless delivery

Demonstrated ability to work independently, including the ability to organize, plan, and prioritize tasks

Strong analytical skills with an innovative mindset

Experience coaching managers on performance matters

Familiarity with US employment law

Team player with superior client service and interpersonal skills

Exceptional communication skills including effective listening, writing and presentation

Detail oriented with strong with Excel and PowerPoint skills

Minimum 6-8 years of progressive HR experience, with 3-5 years in Employee Relations

Bachelor’s degree required

SHRM/PHR Certification preferred
