This position is responsible for the anticipation, oversight and coordination of logistics processes for 1DF Distribution Operations.  The EP Logistics Manager is effectively prepared to respond to all levels of emergency events that can disrupt service to customers and negatively affect Duke’s reputation and brand. This individual will also represent Duke Energy to external Emergency Response Logistic organizations such as County, State Emergency Operation Centers and mutual assistance logistic organizations, by sharing best practices and influencing standards and regulations related to emergency event response. 

This position is responsible for all 1DF’s major emergency event logistical planning and coordination with the regional Incident Commanders and Logistics Section Chiefs under the direction of the Dir-Emergency Preparedness. Responsibilities include maintaining and coordinating the regional logistical response plans, developing and conducting logistical training and assisting during drills for major storms and other emergency events (such as base camp planning and building material and asset stockpiles). The position works with vendors and other agencies providing logistical support to build effective logistical response plans.

Provides logistical strategies as it pertains to setting up and supporting base camps, prioritizes logistical support for transportation and fuel, provides direction to regional staffs on coordinating resource management and assists the emergency preparedness managers in maintaining the logistics annex of all emergency plans.  Must be able to plan schedules, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.  Works independently one-on-one with internal and external stakeholders, and as part of a team.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

Collaborates with leadership in Operations, Customer Service, Enterprise Preparedness Services, Regional Planning and Logistics Teams and other internal organizations to lead the development of logistic plans and strategies that deliver a consistent and coordinated enterprise response based on industry best practices.

Coordinates periodic reviews, updates, and drills to ensure continuous improvement of the logistic plans. Actively works with regional staffs during emergency response events to ensure consistent utilization of the plans. Conducts critiques after drills and emergency events and implement lessons learned when appropriate. Promotes the adoption of the ICS Emergency response model throughout the enterprise

Deals directly with commercial vendors to acquire logistics support in the way of base camps, fuel, buses, hotels and other commodities to support restoration activities.  Works with Duke Energy contracting to develop complete and value-based contracts to support restoration activates across all jurisdictions.

Ensure logistic plans are integrated across 1DF to ensure each region operates in the same manner and executes logistic coordination with vendors and planning staff to ensure the highest quality of logistic support for Duke and Off-System resources.   

Represents Duke Energy through active participation in industry Emergency Preparedness organizations. Identify and share best practices to improve logistic plans. Influences standards and regulations related to emergency response. Seeks innovative tools and approaches to improve logistic efficiency and reduce costs

Supports requests for information as it relates to storm and emergency logistic activities. Works closely with other company logistics functions to provide appropriate and timely updates and responses.','!*!Basic/Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in technical field OR 2 year Technology (or related) degree and 6-8 years of prior work related experience OR 10 years of prior work related experience in lieu of a degree.

Valid Driver’s license

Experience with vendor management

Relevant leadership/supervisory experience

Knowledge of contracting procedures and contract management

Experience with emergency response operations 

Desired Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in multiple areas of distribution and/or transmission operational experience

Ability to establish strategic direction, develops action plans, and executes to get results

Core business process understanding and process development experience

Significant knowledge of incident command principles

Public sector background with strong incident command experience
