SUMMARYWorking with close supervision, the Embedded Software Engineering Technician develops software models, simulations, testing procedures, and graphical user interfaces in support of projects and embedded systems developed by GameStop. In addition, this position integrates software into existing embedded systems, and identifies and evaluates new technologies and software packages for their viability and compatibility with GameStop projects. It will also provide hands-on game testing and collaborate with other R&D members to complete projects. The technician also plans and develops repair methods for electronic components and embedded systems to improve technical performance. This position may often collaborate with external partners to design new products for retail sale. The associate will interact with his or her supervisor daily to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor's advanced approval. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Support embedded systems by developing hardware and software solutions
Create custom software models, simulations, and graphical user interfaces for GameStop products
Define, assess software/hardware interactions and present findings to management team
Employ CAD tools (B2 Spice, AutoCAD Electrical or similar suite) to design electronic solutions for new products
Utilize wireless communication technologies (Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi-PAN, Bluetooth, ZigBee, RF, IR) in the development of new products
Perform product testing to ensure all electrical/electronic components comply with GameStop's quality standards
Create, test and verify new prototypes in collaboration with internal teams using best practices
Use diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes, circuit analyzers and digital multi-meters to troubleshoot electronic circuits
Develop and verify new repair methods that will be used by production associates for embedded systems repair
Work within project deadlines and communicate potential roadblocks that limit successful outcomes
Present project progress to management team using tools such as PowerPoint
Manage relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
Model the high level of customer service expected of all GameStop associates including responding to voice mails and emails within organizationally defined timeframes, completing projects as committed, responding to others' feedback appropriately, and making optimal use of organizationally limited resources by offering assistance to other functional teams when appropriate

Accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline required, additional work experience may be accepted in substitution

1-3 years' experience with most of the following: Embedded Systems Development, Java, C , .NET, Linux, MAC OS, or Unity programming languages
Proficient in developing data structures, algorithms, and design patterns preferred
Working knowledge of game design and/or platform testing
Working knowledge of electronics and related test instruments
Proficient learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives

Proficient knowledge of electronic components and circuitry
Working knowledge of electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, digital multi-meter)
Working knowledge of surface mount (SMT) and through-hole technologies
Ability to design complex circuits using CAD software preferred
Knowledge of Linux and Android operating systems preferred
Expert ability to comprehend and adhere to all GameStop policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those related to attendance and scheduling requirements, honesty and integrity, confidentiality, safety, and conflict of interest
