About the Plant:

General Motors Bowling Green Assembly is proudto be the only “Home of the Corvette”.Nearly eight hundred production workers, represented by the UAW Local2164, help assemble these vehicles on a one-shift,10-hour, Monday-Thursdayproduction schedule. Approximately50,000 tourists from around the world visit the plant annually to catch aglimpse of the manufacturing process at Bowling Green Assembly. Inaddition, the plant has partnered with the National Corvette Museum to enableCorvette enthusiasts the opportunity to watch their own Corvette being built,take a personalized tour of the facility and special delivery of their car, andacquire an exclusive photo book to commemorate the manufacturing process and“birth” of their Corvette. Overall Job Responsibilities:

The Electrical Quality Engineer Manage daily requests for supportsolving issues and utilize Red X Tools to root cause. Develop quickcontainments with robust long term solutions to different problems. Presentthe Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition and technicalguidance on complex problems. Support Launch of new products in theplant. Manage Supplier Quality problems as they arise and work with issuesusing the PRR process to document and resolve.

Specific

Responsibilities:

Assist in the root cause and implementation of corrective action forproblems identified by EOL Electrical test equipment and Dynamic Vehicle Test

Develop quality standards and procedures for the plant.

Manage multiple projects with broad scope and high degree of difficulty.

Generate unique technical solutions utilizing 7 Diamonds Process, Red Xand other tools as applicable.

Assist production in prevention of defect occurrence and recommend process changes.

Work with Launch Team on new vehicle builds. Support IRT Co-Chairsas necessary and transition commodities into the team as launchprogresses into saleable builds.

Work with suppliers to address PRR’s issued and ensure robust countermeasures.

Work with suppliers and engineering to develop inspection standards forparts and subassemblies.

Share Lessons Learned with Engineering to prevent repeat design orbuild issues.

Review of nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for properinitial disposition and root cause follow-up.

Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and atsuppliers.

Coordinate quality evaluation of new vehicles with engineeringand production

Coordinate engineering change implementation.

Evaluate employee suggestions.

Issue technical reports and make presentations to management.

Domestic and Global Travel as required

Required

Education, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor's Degree inEngineering

Exercises independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor.

Demonstrated ability to attain results, while balancing technical solutions with business imperatives.

Solid analytical/problem solving skills with capability to identify solutions to unusual and complex problems.

Generate technical solutions utilizing 7 Diamonds, Red X, DFMEA Tools and others as applicable.

Must excel at problem solving – root cause, containment, robust long term solutions.

Understanding of lean concepts.

Thorough understanding and capacity to effectively operate in all areas of the plant production process.

Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead diverse/cross-functional teams as well as mentor, motivate and elicit work output from peers and other team members.

Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation skills.

Preferred Education, Skills and Abilities:

Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.

Familiar with MERs, GDS, GBFTT, DVT

Familiar with 7-diamond processes

Red X Journeyman Certification.

Good understanding of SPC.

Engineering Work Order (EWO)/Parts Release familiarity

Familiar with pulling prints, reading drawings, Vismoc, GDIS, GSIP, GQTS, PRTS, PADs, Gage Strategies

Supplier audit experience.

Knowledge of PPAP requirements.

Certified Quality Engineer.
