I. Job Summary

Develops, writes, and edits proposals, presentations, and marketing support material. Supports industrial, commercial, sales and marketing efforts that includes:  reviewing RFPs and RFIs, developing proposal task lists, tracking proposal development, pricing, and producing marketing collateral to support department efforts.  An understanding of the solid waste industry and market, commercial and industrial to include hazardous materials, is highly desirable, or a background in technical business writing is acceptable.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other minor duties may be assigned.

Coordinates all aspects of proposal development from initial receipt of RFP/RFI to final delivery including printing, binding, etc. where necessary.

Provides coordination of proposal effort between multiple locations.

Develops and streamlines processes for proposal development.

Performs follow-up with sales personnel to review proposal content and track status.

Meets both internal and external customer expectations for proposal content and delivery deadlines.

Interfaces with sales personnel to develop and prepare responses to large-scale bids, proposals, and qualification packages.

Writes and edits in support of sales efforts.  This includes both standard, reusable text as well as custom text

Reviews and understands intended customer marketing strategy as defined by Sales Personnel.

Coordinates new marketing information such as company backgrounds, qualifications, operation processes, maps, charts, boilerplates documents, etc.

Performs market research

Effectively communicates project scope as defined by the customer.

Works with Manager of Customer Service and Support to plan, prepare, and manage meetings.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory duties, but may occasionally act as a team lead.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A.  Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in professional writing, English, journalism, marketing, communications or a related field or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant work experience.

Experience: Four years of prior work experience in proposal writing, technical writing, copy writing, speech writing, editing or a related field (in addition to education requirement).

B.  Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

Excellent understanding of a Microsoft Office environment to include PowerPoint and Desktop Publishing.

Ability to effectively demonstrate and/or document large account selling techniques including business case development, account profiling, solution-based selling, organizational and presentation skills, negotiation skills, implementation, and follow-up.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
