JOB DESCRIPTION - Engineer - Mustang Station, Denver City, Texas

 

Position Summary

 

Responsible for tracking plant performance parameters, coordinating appropriate testing to determine root cause of problems, providing system or equipment performance testing, capital project management and recommending appropriate and cost effective solutions to correct problems and/or improve efficiency.  Also, this position will support the Antelope Elk Station located in Abernathy, TX. 

 

Major Areas of Responsibilities:

*Perform and/or coordinate engineering design modifications.  *Project lead on site level activities which includes generating, developing, and executing projects. *Perform as a Project Manager of capital projects. *Provide engineering analysis, inspections and support to operations to keep equipment running at maximum reliability and performance levels while maintaining personnel safety, asset safety and environmental compliance. *Review and analyze predictive and preventive maintenance data. *Monitor unit efficiency.  Identify and troubleshoot deviations from expected values that would improve unit performance. *Make recommendations on reducing operational and maintenance expenses Provide long range planning for maintenance, repair and capital improvement projects. *Ensure appropriate operating permits are maintained. *Stay abreast of developments in the energy industry and recommend modifications.  *Lead performance tests, equipment performance monitoring and trending. *Compile and analyze operating data and help develop operational plans and equipment recommendations to optimize facility performance and profitability. *Assist in the development of various operations and data reports for internal and external distribution. *Support developing elements of the annual operations and maintenance budgets based upon knowledge of inspection, reliability plans and PM requirements. *Work closely with operations to optimize and improve unit performance and operations. *Support the establishment and enforcement of safe working conditions and practice safe work habits in all activities.

Qualifications:

 Knowledge/Skills:

*Basic knowledge of power plant systems and operation consistent with level of responsibility *Excellent quantitative skills. *Strong computer skills to include spreadsheets, project management, databases, and word processing. *Superior interpersonal skills. *Proven planning and organizational skills. *Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure. *High tolerance for stress; ability to adapt to changing requirements and quickly bring assignments to completion. *Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and to identify problems and solutions without constant guidance. *Uses discretion concerning confidential and sensitive company information. *Team player; able to work with all levels of the organization.

Education/Experience:

*4 - 10 years of engineering experience in Power or Industrial facilities.  *Bachelor Degree from an accredited University in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred. *Preferred experience in development & implementation of technical solutions of in-service gas turbine power generation components.

Working Conditions:

*Both normal office and out of doors work environment. *This could include working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, wet, dirty and high humidity areas.  Will also include work in confined spaces. *Requires operation of a motor vehicle and valid Driver's License.  Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect and/or collect data on plant equipment. *Work overtime and non-standard hours as required to support plant. *Business area covers steam and gas turbines at plant site. *Use of PPE (Personnel Protective Equipment), which may include safety glasses, hard hat, protective footwear, ear plugs, gloves, safety harness, respirator, etc. *May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals. *May require lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities

Engineer Level will be commensurate with experience
