Job Description : Reporting to the senior manager of Corporate Media Relations, this position is responsible for media relations, communication planning and execution at Lockheed Martin's Corporate Headquarters. Working with communications professionals across the company, this individual will monitor the media landscape for issues and policies relevant to our business. Working with external vendors, this individual is responsible for media monitoring, media engagement and media coverage assessment, as well as providing daily media summaries to senior executives. The position also provides communications support for the corporation's emergency operations center and assists in the assembly of capture media metrics reports.Primary Responsibilities• Uses full suite of communications tools to monitor print, digital and online media sources for issues and policies relevant to the corporation and industry• Works with external vendors to monitor, filter, assess and provide media coverage and analysis • Cultivates and maintains relationships with Tier I and trade reporters as well as internal clients• Supports integration of media relations with digital communications• Other responsibilities may be assigned as required to support the organizationBasic Qualifications• Strong communication skills with excellent writing and editing ability, including knowledge of AP Style • Understanding of the news media and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships• Must be available to work a flexible schedule including early morning hours• Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and executive leadership and work in a matrix environment• Motivated self-starter who works effectively under competing priorities and tight deadlines• Quick study with an attention to detail and a sense of urgency• Ability to work in a fast-paced matrixed environment• Strong work ethic and positive attitude• Experience with contemporary communications trends and industry techniquesDesired skills• Experience using data analytics to help drive communication strategies• Familiarity with the Department of Defense and military services mission and operationsAs a leading technology innovation company, Lockheed Martin's vast team works with partners around the world to bring proven performance to our customers' toughest challenges.
