Director of Quality

Provide leadership and direction to the quality teams to achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.


Support the Company’s mission, vision, values, and goals in the performance of daily activities.

Provides leadership, mentoring and coaching to the corporate Quality team.

Provides key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identification, development and implementation quality strategies and interventions associated with accomplishing business objectives.

Responsible for implementation of improved quality systems, rapid responsiveness, designed-in quality and six-sigma focus.

Ensure corporate standards for product and material acceptance, and for testing and verification processes are implemented and maintained..

Represent Tower International in key customer quality relations/negotiations.

Serve as primary liaison, when required, on matters regarding the company’s product quality and quality processes.

Responsible for key quality issues, determining containment and reporting protocol, and ensuring strict compliance in the event of a quality concern.

Ensure supply network has and maintains effective quality assurance programs.

Maintains internal auditor teams, provides training and methodology to enhance auditor capabilities and defines systematic audit schedule to comply with industry requirements.

party audits in preparation, scheduling and coordinating with corporate area manager responsible for ITAF16949 compliance.

Manages all internal quality compliance programs for third party/customer certifications. Ensure excellence in all KPI’s.

Support in the drive of quality goals and standards into Purchasing, Program Management, and Technology departments. Support the selection of reliable suppliers and the inclusion of Quality metrics into product and process design.

Manage the Six-Sigma practice and methodologies in all Tower Quality programs.

Provides direction and leadership to the Quality Area Managers, Plant Quality Managers, and Supplier Quality Engineers regarding Quality strategy and objectives.

Drive initiatives to assist reduction of Americas Cost of Quality metric.

Responsible for assisting in the identification, selection, training, assessment, and coaching of Quality professionals

Responsible for assuring internal and OSHA required procedures are being followed in the performance of daily activities.

Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the work area.

Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.

Provides model behavior to demonstrate corporate values.


Reports directly to the VP of Quality and Program management. Interfaces on a frequent basis with all plant and corporate Quality Managers, all levels of internal management and colleagues and with external consultants, existing vendors and potential vendor candidates.


Provides direct leadership and supervises Quality Area Managers and Supplier Quality Engineers

Ability to identify, select, train and coach management talent

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum of eight (8) – ten (10) years of increasingly responsible quality systems experience, and demonstrate experience in a wide range of quality systems, and five (5) years of Supervisory/Management experience.

Demonstrated track record in the implementation of comprehensive global quality systems, maintenance and continuous improvement of the systems to stay in compliance with the ever changing global automotive standards.

Demonstrated ability to develop technical and leadership talent to meet current and future business needs

General understanding of business strategies, finance, marketing, and sales activities

Leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills, consulting skills, and the proven ability to develop relationships and influence at all levels within the organization.

Demonstrated presentation, oral and written communication skills are essential.

Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Strong problem resolution skills, along with customer service and team orientation skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office software

Ability to read and write in English and to perform mathematical calculations


Duties include but are not limited to; stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk, and hear. Ability to travel and occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration and hazardous materials
