Summary:

This position will report to the CEO and will manage the advertising and marketing staff. They will be responsible for planning, executing, developing, and directing the efforts of marketing/advertising promotion to generate growth and maximize sales and profits for the company. Work closely with the Brand team, merchandising, sales, e-commerce departments and outside agencies. Consistently innovate to create customer loyalty to NFM.

Data gathering and analysis:

Gather and analyze marketing data by division and by competitor to best understand various customer niches and overall competitive market on an ongoing basis.

Gather and analyze data on media.

Understand business, profitability of lines, competition, product trends and customer needs to fairly reflect the environment to division managers.

Measure marketing strategy execution effectiveness to ensure optimization of marketing funds while continually improving “market intelligence” for each division.

Provide internal customers with key marketing data for their analysis and review.

Conduct and compile market research using customer data bases, focus groups, and other research tools.

Design marketing plan to achieve NFM’s company and strategic goals

Work with key division and area management to jointly set strategic priorities that will drive the marketing efforts for NFM and their divisions.

Select the most effective media vehicles to achieve their strategic goals.

Create an annual marketing plan and brand development plan in conjunction with the Brand team indicating high level priorities, month by month marketing plan and promotions calendar.

Coordinate NFM retail brand including consistent, recognizable, targeted, pleasing and unique advertising communication and promotion thereby creating a clear image of NFM for the customers.

Plan and execute the internet marketing strategy.

Negotiate media buys and contracts with key vendors (i.e. newspaper, radio, air, online and research).

Manage and deploy all PR and destination strategies.

Achieve all sales and advertising goals.

Work with Buyers and suppliers to help grow categories.

Overall leadership, management and direction of Marketing/Advertising Division functions to effectively execute marketing strategies:

Work with key constituents of marketing efforts (advertising, agency, events coordinator, external suppliers, accounting, brand team and credit) to ensure accurate, cost effective, and timely execution of strategy.

Lead and develop Advertising General Manager, Brand Manager, and Regional Marketing Manager to realize full potential.

Balance and manage media schedules and buys. Manage development and execution of creative. This including all media, traditional, e-media, tv commercial direction and development and social

Communicate with all staff regarding our marketing efforts on a timely and proactive basis.

Work with vendor base to raise funds for growth.

Work with co-op, accounting and advertising to track and bill vendors.

Strategically attract and retain key target customer groups thereby increasing sales and profitability of business division.

Execute the social strategy.

Prepare and manage marketing budgets.

Develop and execute public relations events and strategies.

Oversee brand development, messaging, and strategy.

Oversee and develop the event and destination strategy including corporate social responsibility and corporate sponsorship.

Oversee and develop the destination and community involvement plans and strategy

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Master Degree preferred in, marketing, public relations, or related business degree

• 10 or more years of management experience in marketing, advertising and public relations, executing strategies to meet or exceed business goals and objectives. (Some portion of which must be strategic senior level marketing management experience).

• Microsoft Office Applications

• Ability to manage and execute on multiple priorities.

• Must be flexible and resilient to change.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• In-depth understanding of marketing principals

• Valid Driver’s License and ongoing acceptable driving record.

• Experience in a retail environment preferred.

• Ability to work night, weekend and/or early morning hours based on business needs.

Company Profile:
Nebraska Furniture Mart, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, is the largest home furnishing store in North America selling furniture, flooring, appliances and electronics. NFM was founded in 1937 by Mrs. B (Rose Blumkin) in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1983, Mrs. B sold a majority interest to Berkshire Hathaway. NFM now has three stores, located in Omaha, Nebraska, Kansas City, Kansas, and Des Moines, Iowa. A fourth store is expected to open in The Colony, TX in the spring of 2015. Born outside of Minsk, Russia, in 1893, Rose Gorelick followed her husband, Isadore Blumkin to America in 1917 to take on the American dream. By 1922, the young couple had scraped together enough money to have her family flee Russia and join them in America.
