Job Description / Information

The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving business growth through strategic partnerships (Licensing, Distribution) and/or acquisitions that support the strategic initiatives of the Endoscopy business unit. The ideal hire will own, update and successfully implement the business development process, including strategy development (GAP Analysis, GAP Prioritization), casting of net (Communicating Areas of Focus, Target Company List Development), deal process (contacting target, conducting due diligence and integration planning, compiling financial model, term sheet and draft agreement, target negotiations), due diligence (CER and Board Summary), integration and incremental process improvements.

Primary Responsibilities:

Identify, research, analyze and negotiate new business opportunities for the Endoscopy business unit, including investments, joint ventures, partnerships and mergers and acquisitions

Work with internal and external groups as appropriate for market research and sizing, business case validation, competitor analyses, pricing analyses, etc.

Development of road map of potential new strategic development/diversification business areas

Work closely with portfolio companies and related entities on M&A or other partnership opportunities for their businesses

Perform strategic and financial analyses of target companies

Lead due diligence process for potential transactions, working closely with business areas and other internal and external groups as appropriate

Collaborate with business partners on diligence, analyses, recommendations on corporate financial implications of various strategic initiatives, and corporate M&A process

In partnership with the project finance lead, develop and run comprehensive financial models and analyses, including pro formas, company valuations, business operating plans, projected investment returns, scenario analyses

In conjunction with input from functional leaders, develop detailed proposals and presentations for targets and present those proposals to BU, Divisional and Corporate leadership

Establish relationships with consultants and determine efficiencies with firms utilized by the company

Analyze the return on investment from previous transactions and agreements

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements/Experience:

8-12 years of experience in related sales, marketing, R&D, and/or Business Development preferably within medical, pharmaceutical or other relevant industry

Excellent analytical skills and ability to deliver results with multiple and complex projects

Strong oral and written skills

Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills

Demonstrated leadership talents and experience

Demonstrated effective managerial skills

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a cross-functional team oriented environment.

Fundamental Computer Skills

Background in healthcare products or medical devices highly preferred
