Director of Business Development, Sensor Systems','093729','USA-California-Santa Rosa','','!*!L-3 Force X, an L-3 Communications’ Division, seeks an experienced Director of Business Development, Sensor Systems to lead the Software Engineering and Sensor business development team. Specifically, this position will identify and verify new business opportunities, generate customer contact and capture plans, lead capture teams, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs). The selected candidate will spearhead market strategy development, gather competitive intelligence, do price-to-win / design-to-cost analysis, and act as the primary point of contact with customers for programs and projects during the capture phase. This individual must effectively translate user needs into product features and clearly communicate how L-3 Force X products can meet user's requirements. The Director of Business Development will: Provide Leadership- Must have established relationships with prime contractor and government customer communities and maintain a high level of customer intimacy within these communities. Influence and effectively shape customer requirements within the following constituencies:  political, prime contractor customer, and partners/suppliers. Work effectively with the Sr. Director GM and matrix staff of the Business Unit. Supervise, train, and mentor the  business development team (evaluate them twice annually). Organize and staff, strategy, pursuit & capture teams in order to execute the vision and strategy, and, meet the goals and objectives of the business.  Creates an environment that inspires employees to take personal ownership for achieving facility/business goals, and for continuous performance improvement. Visit with all key  products customers regularly (at least once annually). Have Market Intelligence- Must have an in-depth knowledge of the SW Engineering marketplace with prime and end customers to include requirements and mission needs and share that knowledge at all levels within the organization including executive management, program management, and capture teams. Possess a demonstrated track record of winning domestic and international new business opportunities. Lead the annual strategic planning process that ensures appropriate analysis is conducted which includes competitive market analysis, internal review of SWOT, and the categorization of opportunities (core, core evolution, adjacent, new). Provide Marketing- Generate an annual Bid & Proposal and Marketing Support budgets and actively manage them to ensure they are within plan. Establish and maintain customer communications, marketing and branding material and related collateral including advertising campaigns, publicity releases and promotional activities for the Business Unit.  Process Participate in Internal Research and Development planning and approval.  Responsible for generating and maintaining the orders pipeline and booking forecasts for the products Oversee tradeshow, conference and event planning and scheduling. Prepares new business reviews with the staff to review orders forecasts, the new business pipeline and key capture status. Assist with the development of a detailed annual operating plan for the business development department. Ensure capture teams utilize the defined capture process with appropriate gate reviews and bid/no-bid decisions along with color team reviews (i.e. red team, black hat reviews) and price-to-win analysis for major, must win opportunities. ','!*!Qualifications: Minimum of 10 years in Defense Industry (DOD) Business Development experience, with a proven track record of winning major programs.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field. MBA preferred.Minimum of 5 years in or associated with SW Engineering and HW integration as it relates to display technology in the Aerospace and Defence industry.Working knowledge of the DoD procurement processes, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) is required.U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance required.Demonstrated success developing and executing short and long term business plans and strategies designed to assure timely orders resulting in company growth.
