The Director of Security Research for CA Veracode is responsible for building and managing a team of security researchers conducting security research projects across a wide range of security topics. You will also help execute on these projects as an individual contributor. You will raise awareness of CA Veracode and drive change throughout the industry by presenting at top security conferences, publishing compelling content, and engaging with the security community. Our Director will have the ability to work out of any of CA Technologies\u2019 hub locations, or, to work remotely from their home office. This is a player\/coach role as much as it is a people management and project management role. You\u2019re expected to be hands-on with security research and to understand all of the research on the team at a deeply technical level. You should have name recognition as well as a significant body of public work including presentation experience at prominent technical security conferences. Responsibilities: Manage, develop, and collaborate with the CA Veracode Labs research team Conceptualize, scope, and execute on security research projects across a wide range of security topics Manage project budgets, priorities, timelines, milestones, and deliverables Produce public-facing artifacts (e.g. whitepapers, tools, presentations) that can be used to drive interest in these projects Collaborate with PR and marketing on editorial timelines and other activities related to releasing and promoting research deliverables and artifacts Promote your team\u2019s research by speaking at industry conferences and engaging visibly on social media and\/or in other public forums Skills & Requirements: You should love tackling difficult problems, and you should be able to learn quickly and independently, including technologies that you\u2019ve had no past experience with. It\u2019s also crucial that you\u2019re effective at both verbal and written communication to diverse audiences. Above all, you should be creative and motivated with genuine enthusiasm, not just aptitude, for security research. We\u2019ll expect you to bring interesting, relevant project ideas to the table. Other things we\u2019re looking for: 3 years of experience managing and leading technical teams; prior experience leading a security research group a plus 5-10 years of practical security work experience or equivalent hobbyist portfolio, in areas such as (but not limited to) software\/hardware auditing, penetration testing, vulnerability research, reverse engineering, threat modeling, SDLC, DFIR, etc. Prototyping ability, i.e. enough coding skills to hack together quick and dirty tools to solve a problem or demonstrate feasibility Seasoned, articulate public speaker, with professional demeanor and experience presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences at prominent industry conferences Press\/media experience Excellent attention to detail and quality Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills Desire and ability to collaborate with other researchers at CA Veracode or external researchers Artifacts: If not already listed on your resume, please provide links to: Security research you\u2019ve personally conducted (e.g. whitepapers, blog posts, etc.) Videos and\/or slide decks of recent conference presentation(s) Media interviews you\u2019ve done, if applicable More About Working at CA: CA has earned scores of Workplace Excellence awards in the last few years \u2013 and there\u2019s a reason for that.
