QUALIFICATIONS

Responsible for expert knowledge of the products and developing and implementing sales strategies in East, Midwest, Southwest, and West regions.  Develops and attains annual sales budgets for direct reports.  Responsible for delivering practical market insights for profit; developing and implementing tactical marketing plans for the business including development of leads, customer needs and competitive strategies. Overall – defines and delivers Greif’s “value proposition”, either directly or through others, to potential customers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, own and maintain tactical marketing plans.

Increase Pocket margin for house/trade sales in area.

Develop plant mix opportunities.

Determine product advantages/disadvantages; product substitution opportunities.

Develop leads for and manage inside and outside sales.

Drive commercial excellence by area trade account planning, develop margin targets for account plans and review, critique and sharpen account plans.

Periodically determine group of under-performing house accounts, set targets, and re-price.

Coordinate with sales administration to develop pricing policies, train CSS, and feed area price targets to maintain target setting tool and list price configurator.

Maintain up to date knowledge on industry pricing trends; monitor competitive pricing in area.

Stays abreast of new legislation and development affecting product line.

Communicates goals and objectives, applies company policy, staffs, trains, coaches, recommends salary increases, administers discipline, ensures positive employee relations and reviews the performance of employees.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor Degree in Business or Marketing preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE

5 years in Sales, Marketing or Business. 

8 years preferred in Manufacturing setting.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Must have product line knowledge. 

Sales and manufacturing experience required. 

Good communications skills. 

Must be able to work with many different departments within the organization.
