Job Description

The Director, Corporate Communications reports to the Vice President, Communications and is responsible for advising and collaborating on the development of communications strategy, producing work product, and managing program implementation as these relate to Grace’snoncommercialstakeholders. This includes providing guidance and support for the senior executives, business presidents, and other leaders in the following topics:

Internal communications in collaboration with HR, and functional leaders

Benefits and compensation communications

Employee engagement, change management, and employer branding

Support for investor relations

Environment, health, safety, and security, including emergencies and risk management

Media relations

Advocacy and issues management

Social responsibility and community relations including the W. R. Grace Foundation

The core competency for this role is deep understanding and experience in the strategic management of sensitive, high-stakes, reputation management-related communication of almost every description excluding marketing communications. The role requires the ability to work under pressure; produce and direct the production of a wide variety of world class work product; exhibit sound judgment and sensitivity to organizational dynamics; provide confident, proactive counsel to senior leaders; and to be available as needs arise.

Required Skills

Strong consultative skills and ability to effectively influence

Strong working knowledge of communications strategy development and the creative process

Experience in managing internal communications programs and familiarity with internal communications body of knowledge, including compensation and benefits

Strong project management skills

Global orientation and multi-cultural skills

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in English, Liberal Arts, Communications, or related discipline

10 years experience in corporate communications, with an emphasis on internal and executive communication

Preferred Qualifications

Collaborate with global colleagues to concept, write, and produce content

Manage and be accountable for Corporate Communications core processes and routine deliverables across a range of media, including support for quarterly earnings/financial reporting

Become familiar with Grace’s business, its products, and its services

Effectively advise and collaborate with internal “clients” in order to elicit, refine, and advise on strategic requirements

Serve as principle Communications team liaison to functional and business leaders; and specifically for the HR Total Rewards function

Research and develop fresh approaches to improve communications and advance objectives
