Job Description

The Director of Consumer Content will lead the overall planning, development and curation of consumer content for the Ameriprise Wealth Management business. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and writer who can translate broad business and brand strategies into content that brings those strategies to life for our audiences. The role requires an organized and flexible person who effectively manages agencies and collaborates with channel owners, business partners, and leaders to create and maintain remarkable content aligned with strategic objectives. A key responsibility is to build and manage a library of content - from editorial to educational - in multiple formats (text, infographics, video) which can be reused, repurposed, or optimized for use across digital and traditional consumer channels.

The Director will lead a team of 3 or more individuals and report to the Vice President of Consumer Content.

Responsibilities

Bring the Ameriprise client experience to life for consumers by developing and implementing multi-faceted content for use across marketing programs or initiatives.

Work with internal resources and external agencies to help create a strong, consistent consumer experience across the consumer channels.

Ensure a strong, engaging, compelling content experience across channels. This requires demonstrated abilities across the process from setting a clear vision - through editorial planning, strong creative briefs and kick-off meetings - to content development, writing, editing, review with leaders and production process oversight.

Work with Analytics team and resources to measure and report effectiveness of content library - both individual pieces and as a whole - and work with channel partners to make recommendations for improvement.

Manage annual budget allocation.

Required Qualifications

Requires Bachelor's degree journalism, communications or related field.

7 years leading content marketing and strategy development teams.

Experience with content architecture, meta data and content marketing requirements, and ongoing content management.

Demonstrated success in strategic communications development.

Proven ability to lead, influence, communicate and interact with people at all levels across the organization.

Interview process will include a portfolio review and writing assessment.

This position requires a Series 7 or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Additional Requirements Include:

Able to translate marketing strategies and marketing positioning into compelling message strategies with a proven track record of using omni-channel experiences to drive business results.

A content strategist with excellent working knowledge of digital and traditional marketing formats and tools. Able to demonstrate writing, editorial, and content development skills.

Proven abilities in team leadership and development, agency and vendor management, and ongoing improvement plans informed by needs of different audiences and channels, metrics and user insights.

Able to lead and influence within Ameriprise's matrixed organization through relationship building and strong presence.

Can manage and prioritize multiple projects, adjust plans to capitalize on changing circumstances and opportunities, make timely decisions, work under pressure as part of high-performing team and consistently meet deadlines.

Experience providing creative agencies direction and feedback

Self-motivated; able to work with limited supervision.

Is passionate about the power of content within the consumer experience.

Can work with leader to set direction and vision for their work.

Intellectually curious; critical thinker; innovative.

Shows character under pressure; professional and ethical in all business dealings.

Takes charge and can make tough decisions; demonstrates a can do attitude.
