Role Value Proposition:
The MetLife US Quality Team administers a structured approach to driving continuous improvement within the claim organization, with a focus on providing all customers a simple, accurate and highly valued claim experience. We support MetLife’s strategy of operational excellence by enabling process excellence, management rigor, and data driven decision making. Responsible for documenting business procedures, establishing best practice standards and providing objective feedback - the Quality Team also partners with claims to identify opportunities and implement targeted solutions.
Leads the Claims Quality Assurance program for multiple product and claim groups, driving continuous improvement in claims accuracy, service and efficiency through high value performance feedback, trend analysis and solutioning.
Close collaboration with Claims Operations, Clinicians and other stakeholders to deliver on the Quality vision in developing best practice claim management standards, setting quality expectations and facilitating talent development is critical.
Strong leadership, communication and operational experience within a complex organization - as well as teamwork, collaboration and project management skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Full people management responsibility, including hiring, terminations, promotions, performance and compensation management, training & development.
Translates senior management vision and develops department vision, strategy, service levels, and business objectives. Communicates vision and strategy to staff. Identifies training needs of end users and staff and develops and provides the necessary training to meet those needs. Initiatives
Partners with other operational areas to build strong working relations and improve workflow and organizational issues.
Forecasts and monitors the budget for areas of responsibility.
Manages critical relationships with consultants and vendors, internal end users, and business customers/leadership.
Conducts complex research and analysis to quantify business opportunities and issues and develops formal recommendations for presentation to management.
Designs, implements, and monitors the progress of initiatives, milestones, and budgets to ensure timeliness and deliverables are met. Provides updates to senior business leadership regarding project status and the application and implementation of new or revised procedures, processes, and/or initiatives
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
10 years of disability claims work experience
Experience managing, coaching, and team development .
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience,
Able to travel up to 40%
Advanced degree preferred.
Strong decision making skills
Ability to work in and guide team in changing environment
