The Director of Applications Development (Fulfillment Systems) leads the formulation and execution of the company's Logistics, Order Management, Finance, and EDI systems.
Serves as IS Relationship Manager and/or assists IS Relationship Managers in assessing cost and feasibility of systems and applications requests
Leads a team of developers, analysts and consultants to deliver approved applications to schedule and budget
Ensures that application development plans support both strategic and near-term needs.
Responsible for managing the design, development, implementation and maintenance of IS solutions for business functions across the organization.
Collaborates with Business Unit management, Relationship Managers, Business Consultants and other stakeholders to identify users' requirements and seek opportunities to improve business processes and support critical business strategies.

Responsibilities

Develops strategic and tactical plans for fulfillment systems.
Insures adherence to Mohawk SDLC practices and conformance to IS process governance
Provides expert leadership and knowledge in fulfillment applications and technologies
Responsible for achieving the departmental KPIs for the applications teams
Responsible for the accurate and efficient forecasting and allocation of a \u201cshared service\u201d pool of resources required to meet objectives; managing all aspects of development, installation, maintenance, and enhancement for mission-critical application systems in their portfolio.
Evaluates feasibility of possible solutions and recommends actions to IS and business colleagues.
Leads and mentors a dynamic team of individuals who constantly search for creative ways to elevate the capabilities of our fulfillment systems to meet business needs, partly by capitalizing on emerging technologies and partly by adapting technologies to the needs of the customer.
Provides direction to the team including staff development and training, budget management, assignment of work, project and resource control, teamwork coordination and feedback on individual, project or overall program performance.
Maintains effective, productive and professional working relationship with internal and external customers, third party vendors, project management office, relationship managers, and governance organizations in accomplishing project objectives
Monitors and reports on the status of multiple concurrent project efforts; proactively reviews and interprets performance against operating plans and standards; approves changes in plans; presents reports on project performance, changes, enhancements, scope variations, and other related matters and/or participates in key management activities and committees advising IS senior management and business unit project sponsors accordingly.
Develop, documents and maintains best practices, project standards, procedures, application, quality objectives and lessons learned, including metrics for assessing progress; ensures that applications systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices; develops and delivers training on and emphasizes the use of established project standards, methodology and quality objectives; proactively seeks opportunities to apply technology to expanding business potential, thereby strongly impacting competitive advantage and profitability. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline with an information technology focus.
MBA preferred or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, and In-depth technical knowledge, with hands-on experience managing systems development in new and existing computing architectures and environments; emphasis on systems preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of full life cycle application development and implementation
5 years of experience in WMS, TMS, order management, purchasing, invoicing, and EDI systems preferred. 

COMPETENCIES:

Demonstrated experience and understanding of WMS, TMS, order management, purchasing, invoicing, and EDI applications, system development life cycle, dynamics of applications development projects, Information Technology practices and methods.
Knowledge of the principles, techniques and methodology of project management, quality management, and change management
Proficient using PC, Internet and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong team management skills, leading and motivating a team that is geographically dispersed and includes contractors and off-shore resources
Ability to quickly identify and analyze risks & impacts and define alternatives & prioritizations to remove roadblocks. Ability to manage multiple deliverables independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with internal and external customers and senior management.  
Highly motivated self-starter.  Ability to act as an advisor on professional and technical issues with a view towards reaching decisions.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse and global work group and to achieve results through global team efforts.  Ability to perform in a high pressure environment and/or crisis situation and render good decisions to resolve the problems, maintain safety and ensure adherence to Corporate Code of Conduct.
Consistently proven ability to implement projects and contribute to concept development
Willingness to travel (20%)
