The Director of Product Strategy & Brand Operations will drive the creation and support the execution of Athleta Product Development strategy, inclusive of process effectiveness, end-to-end product execution mapping and facilitation of cross functional touchpoints within Athleta.  This position will report directly into the Senior Vice President of Operations.

Athleta Product Operations

P2M and Operational Excellence

• Manage and monitor the health of the product development process and adherence to key milestone deliverables across all functions within the Brand

• Drive creation of the Annual brand calendar and seasonal Pipeline calendar

• Strategize, operationalize and implement continuous improvements within the product development process (Pipeline.)

• Manage Pipeline metrics that drives accountability and behaviors and improving actions.

• Continually reassess and refine work process required to competitively deliver product to market.

• Partner with Learning and Development to update and deliver brand product operations tools training (e.g. Pipeline 2.0, PETE, RPT, Tradestone and/or PLM).

• Manage ad-hoc special projects in support of Brand initiatives.

• Primary contact for all Global Supply Chain quarterly reporting and management

Long Lead-Time Innovations

• Lead and manage 0-18 month LLT innovation process and reporting for transparency and to validate impact of projects.

Product Insights

• Oversee team that conducts and manages product insights sessions and processes (e.g. X-Labs, Wear tests) to extract, optimize and maximize customer insights to inform product development.

Team Development

• Manage work, growth and development of managers and analysts on team.

Gap Inc.

• Collaborate with Gap Inc. functions to support implementation and execution of Supply Chain Strategy Solutions and leverage Gap Inc. scale as applicable (e.g. MICAP and Product 3.0).

Active COE

• Play a role in representing Athleta on active cross-brand initiatives that tie back to LRP.

• Leverage Active COE platform to share and learn from cross-brand best practices.


• At commercialization stage, act as liaison between Athleta and ARO to support activation of ARO launches across the brand.

• 10 years of work experience, preferably with supply chain and/or production, retail apparel, management consulting and/or consumer products Excellent leadership skills, and ability to work in a team environment

• Must have best practice knowledge and demonstrated experience in supply chain

• Demonstrated ability to think globally and translate information into effective strategies and drive results

• Strong project management skills and ability to effectively juggle multiple projects at one time

• Strong change management, strategy and operational experience

• Strong oral, written communication and formal presentation skills including the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way and meeting facilitation

• Strong interpersonal skills, works well as a part of a cross-functional team and is able to influence and interact at all levels of the organization

• Exceptional analytical, decision making, trouble-shooting, mediation, negotiation and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated experience in influencing change outside of span of control or authority

• Experience working in and ability to bring structure to ambiguous and multitasking work environments

• Strong decision making, time management and organization skills 

• Ability to work independently

• 4 years People Management experience in directing the daily activities of a staff consisting of a least 1 direct report

• Proven ability to teach and transfer knowledge

• Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel proficiency preferred

• 4-year Bachelor’s degree required
