The Director of Global Aftermarket Engineering will be responsible for leading a broad range of development and application engineering activities including: Program and Systems Engineering including application engineering and coordination of designers; Development Engineering and coordination / standardization of designs; Product Validation Engineering including FEA / CAE, durability testing equipment and operations and labs (Prototype manufacturing and operations and Engine dyno cells and certification cells / facilities). Additionally, responsible for the full product range from light vehicle, Medium / Heavy Duty, Off-road, and Specialty.

Set Clear work plans / direction for the Global Engineering team. Establish engineering standards and processes for the Global Engineering Organization in order to achieve best in class performance. Develop a scorecard to measure performance (to include KPI's). Develop a mechanism for monitoring projects such as progress reports, open issue tracking and customer correspondence to inform management of current status of each project.

Oversight for Global resource planning and budgeting to meet new product introduction objectives across multiple projects. Although North American based, provide Global oversight for driving engineering processes and resource planning. Develop, lead and motivate managers and the broader team which involves evaluating the depth of talent and strengthening the team as required to support key engineering requirements and enhance succession plans.

Ensure we are attracting, developing, and retaining the best engineering talent. Ensure the new products comply with technical and cost specifications and are capable of economical manufacturing. Ensure that product meets all safety and legal standards.

Support the general manager for Global Aftermarket, including support of key leadership initiatives and initiatives linked to the key strategic imperatives. Ensure new products are consistent with the product plan as well as meeting project needs. Project technical risk management - identify risk levels and assign resources to mitigate / eliminate risks.

Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Direct, review and approve product design and changes. Focus on first time design quality to ensure that quality projects are delivered on time to the customer.

Oversee annual engineering productivity improvement initiatives. Implement improvements in engineering systems, identifying and supporting Six Sigma projects where appropriate. Work with Product Engineers, supervising engineering approval of new components and assemblies.

Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department. Effectively work with the customer to resolve quality concerns and work directly with the customer to develop, design & execute new product development and technology. Manage the cost impact of the engineering change to the product.

Ensure IP opportunities within the technical team are captured and processed. Track industry trends and bring new ideas and approaches to the SBU. Ensure that development process is being properly followed for all design related work products.

Lead design review meetings and approve concept and final design. Partner with Program Management in a cross-functional product team environment. Master's Degree in Engineering or other related area Global / International experience, cultural understanding.

Minimum 15 years of work experience Minimum 5 years' experience with patents and the patent application process. Demonstrated track record of technical leadership; through understanding of best-in-class engineering processes; thorough understanding of engineering fundamentals and concepts. CRITERIA REQUIREMENTS Strong manufacturing understanding and knowledge.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills indicative of the ability to articulate ideas and influence people. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to understand and support customer needs. The ability to coordinate and efficiently lead an engineering team, develop and execute plans.

Experience as a manager of other significantly sized engineering staffs, with a developed ability to lead and develop a high performance group.

Manage a budget successfully. PERFERRED QUALIFICATION Minimum 5 years' experience in Aftermarket automotive environment. Doctoral Degree in Engineering or related area Certification as Six Sigma Greenbelt / Black Belt, or comparable improvement methodology
