Director, Electronics Product ManagementHarman International Industries - Richardson, TX
The professional division is looking for a product management expert to manage the Harman Professional suite of electronics products including products ranges under the AMX, dbx, BSS and Crown brands. The core responsibility will be to lead a team of product management professionals to create unified, industry leading solutions for our customers. This person will be expected to lead the team to identify potential products, conduct market research, generate product requirements, determine specifications, and pricing by working with the CSUs and regional sales teams.
This position will lead a team of eight people across three different locations.
The Associate Director, Electronics will work closely with the V.P., Product & Program manager to develop portfolio strategies in line with the long-term strategic vision for the division. This person should have an in depth working knowledge of these products and their application. The ideal candidate will also have a proven track record of team building and team management. Essential responsibilities will include:
*Lead the team to determine customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain the required market information. *Ensure the entire electronics product management team is focused on delivering market solutions across the different disciplines: power electronics, DSP, video & control products, and software. *Responsible for delivering the electronics product roadmap by assessing all available input from the product management and sales teams to ensure division R&D resources *Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes. *Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products. *Obtains product market share by working with sales directors to develop product sales strategies. *Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results. *Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing. *Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs, and anticipating volume by consolidating input from CSUs and regional sales organizations. *Maintains product management staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. *Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. *Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
*Successful product management and employee management track record in the professional A/V industry. *Networking to include audio distribution and control protocols. Knowledge of video distribution is a plus. *A/V Control Systems including user interfaces, programming and management *Familiarity with Unified Communication systems a plus

*Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited institution. MBA a plus.
