The Director & Associate General Counsel Regulatory will provide specialized in-house legal support to CMEG's Exchanges and to the company’s regulated entities as a general matter.

The Director provides legal & regulatory leadership and therefore requires direct experience in supporting regulated self-regulatory organizations or intermediaries with respect to regulatory issues. The Director also has the ability to work independently as well as the ability to manage and work with cross-functional teams.

Principal Accountabilities:

Assist with new product development initiatives and related rule drafting and submission projects supporting the company’s business line and research divisions.

Support new initiatives for the exchange from a regulatory standpoint in cooperation with others in the Legal Department. The attorney may work on CFTC filings, analysis of underlying product markets, white papers and regulatory aspects of relevant agreements.

Assist with regulatory matters including examinations by various bodies relating to information security, system safeguards and information technology matters.

Support the Legal department and other company departments like the corporate compliance department on regulatory matters including periodic audits, inquiries, enforcement matters and routine questions as they arise.

Provide ongoing regulatory guidance to business units and help interpret and apply regulatory requirements that relate to the company’s regulated entities.

Monitor new domestic and international regulatory developments that directly or indirectly impact the company’s exchanges and work with exchange staff to evaluate impacts and develop CME responses, including drafting comment letters, responding to inquiries and exam requests and working with appropriate industry groups and regulators to promote effective regulatory policies.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree and JD

10+ years of relevant experience
