Develop designs and create computer models of complex components and assemblies. He/she must have the ability to initiate and manage multiple design assignments in a cross-functional team environment. Designing for product function while taking design advantage of available manufacturing methods is important.


Take an idea from spatial concept to functional prototype and determine its viability as a potential product

Coordinate multiple complex design assignments that may support more than on project team

Preform basic design and analysis such as statics and strength of materials

Develop detailed design layouts and thorough tolerance stack-ups

Make technical recommendation regarding the feasibility of product designs in the design reviews and associated meetings

Coordinate procurement of samples

Oversee lab and field testing

File timely invention disclosures when applicable

Thoroughly document product designs and ensure compliance to applicable standards

Maintain accurate and complete documentation for ISO and IP purposes

Work with Marketing to develop Product Definitions

Work with Manufacturing and outside suppliers on design feasibility

Manage Rapid Product Development projects as necessary


Associate Degree in Mechanical Design

Specialized training in and recognized proficiency with advanced functions of applicable design software (e.g., CATIA; CAD;

Pro-E; Solidworks;

Advanced Curves and Surfaces, Etc.)

2-5 years' experience in mechanical design of complex components and assemblies

Demonstrated abilities in design analysis and problem solving techniques

Demonstrated knowledge and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles
