Deputy Chief Engineer Description


Boeing Intelligence & Analytics is seeking a hands-on, high-bandwidth, technical leader to join their team. 


Work with the chief engineer to develop and promote vision and technical guidance across Program Technical Task Orders and Missions.

Assist the Program Management Office staff with strategy and planning by providing insight and advice on technical matters.

Research challenging issues that the program faces and document and present findings via white papers and briefings.

Promote innovation across the program by coordinating technical exchanges, performing research, and piloting potential solutions.

Support the chief engineer in coordinating the efforts of engineers across many disparate tasks to promote engineering standards, mature processes, code re-use, cross-training, etc.

Assist the Program Management Office staff in the assessment and evaluation of new Statements of Work for pending Technical Task Orders.

Assist the chief engineer with providing a technical voice to existing and potential customers as well as external corporate organizations as required.

Assist the chief engineer in developing selection criteria and evaluating commercial and open source products.

Administer investigations and provide solutions to complex program technical challenges.

Help mentor junior engineers on the program.


A Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering) is required.

A Masters Degree in a technical discipline is preferred.


15  years performing and providing technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures and performing technical / non-technical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis. A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field is highly desired and will be considered equivalent to four (4) years experience.

7  years leading, providing technical supervision, and guiding mid-level engineering personnel; solving varied technical / scientific problems; and generating and reviewing designs for technical accuracy, completeness and appropriateness in light of objectives, budget, and schedule.

Developing documentation required to support a program's technical issues and training situations.

Experienced with Object Oriented and Structured development methodologies, networks, data storage, data modeling, data ontologies, security architectures and CASE tool selection and use.

Performing a variety of tasks related to knowledge / technique dissemination to groups of analytic workforce and demonstrates an ability to convey new techniques and technologies to analytic workforce and facilitate transference of acquired knowledge from more experienced analysts to new analysts.

Experienced with system architectures in a service oriented and ESB environment.

Experienced in analytical environments / intelligence production organizations.
