U.S. Army Garrison Kwajalein Atoll (USAG-KA) is located in the Kwajalein Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) approximately 2,136 nautical miles west-southwest of Honolulu, Hawaii. Kwajalein Atoll is a crescent loop of coral islands whose attendant reef encloses an area of 1,100 square miles one of the world's largest lagoons. The USAG-KA supports more than 1,400 residents, who are comprised of military personnel, Army civilians, contractor employees, and family members. These residents live on the islands of Kwajalein and Roi-Namur.


The Dental Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for treatment and assisting the Dentist during dental procedures. Reporting to the Dentist, the Dental Assistant may sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.

**This position is notional and contingent upon contract award.**

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHSi is recognized.

Required Skills


Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience.

Completion of an approved Dental Assistant course, including office radiology training is desired.

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within dental field is required.

Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) or equivalent.

Possess and maintain current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Proficient in speaking, writing and reading English.


Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services:

Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment, and takes dental radiographs.

Obtains and updates patients’ dental records and prepares and lays out instruments and materials required to treat each patient.

Makes patients comfortable in the dental chair and prepares them for treatment.

Assists by handing instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction hoses or other devices.

Instructs patients on postoperative and general oral healthcare.

Prepares materials for impressions and restorations, and process dental x-rays as directed by a dentist.

May remove sutures; apply topical anesthetics to gums or cavity-preventive agents to teeth.

May remove excess cement used in the filling process, and place dental dams to isolate teeth for treatment.

Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.

Performs clerical functions related to dental activities.

Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.

Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.

Comply with all applicable CHSi standards and guidelines.

Participate and advise in Mass Casualty Exercises/Events.

All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow up care required.

Requires the ability to be granted a Secret Clearance.

Must have a valid US Passport

Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy.

Participates in and supports safety meetings, training and goals.

Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.

Maintains a clean and orderly work area.


Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.

May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

Good eye/hand coordination required
