Schedule: Mon - Thurs, 4-5 hours per dayEDUCATION :Required -Must be a Dental Assistant II (DA II) per North Carolina Dental Board definitions. Certification of Dental Assisting not required. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Drivers License - Valid Drivers License BLS (CPR) - AHA Health Care Provider BLS Dental Assistant II or higher.Note -If driving Cone health vehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.JOB SUMMARY: Dental Assistant to assist dentists in a free dental clinic that serves the indigent and uninsured.MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES: Adherence to infection control procedures to reduce the risk of cross-contamination to patient, doctor, and staff. 10 %Association with the other departments/businesses involved with the function of the dental clinic. 10 %Incorporates patient management techniques for medically compromised patients by obtaining a general knowledge of the patient's medical condition and providing appropriate support. 10 %Maintain adequate supplies for the operation of the dental clinic/OR through monitoring the inventory. 10 %Possess skills in clerical duties so that the Dental Assistant is capable of performing administrative clinic operations. 10 %Produce extraoral and intraoral radiographs of diagnostic quality while requiring minimal exposure to patients and staff. 10 %Provide chairside assistance to the doctor/student/hygienist so that dental procedures are productive, of good quality, and completed safely in a timely manner. 10 %Responsible for proper and effective sterilization technique for instruments, equipment, materials, and accessories. 10 %Responsible for proper maintenance of operatories and dental equipment in the dental clinic and OR. 10 %Responsible for proper organization of instrument kits, instrument trays, and accessory equipment according to procedure. 10 %WORKING CONDITIONS : Occurs over two-thirds of the time: Exposure to bloodborne pathogensHazardous waste and/or toxic/caustic chemicalsFumes or airborne particles Additional information on working conditions: Although this position would consist of administrative duties, clinical duties will consist mostly of tooth extractions.iCARE - COMMITMENTS TO CARE:Communication I will create and engage in conversations of possibility.
