Position Purpose and Scope

The Director of Men’s Merchandise Planning and Allocation is responsible for maximizing sales, margin and inventory for Direct to Consumer (Ralph Lauren Store and E-commerce). The Director leads the development of the financial merchandise plans and the execution of allocation and replenishment. This individual will partner closely with Merchandising, Global Brand Planning and Marketing to develop and implement strategies to drive brand-strengthening and profitable growth and will be critical in helping to set the process and strategies for the newly formed Direct to Consumer organization. The Director will oversee a team of Planners, Associate Planners and Distribution Analysts. The Director will report to Sr. Director of Merchandise Planning and Allocation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly forecast and OTB process

• Lead pre-season planning process

• Lead assortment planning process

• Manage mark down and promotion strategy

• Monitor and read out on weekly business performance; partner with cross-functional team to

develop and implement strategies to react as necessary

• Attend meetings with Corporate Merchandising and Global Brand Planning to ensure that DTC

needs are communicated and addressed

• Oversee Allocation, Replenishment and Consolidation

• Manage projects to address business opportunities

• Partner with Planning Director peers to leverage and develop business processes and tools

• Partner with Marketing to develop and execute promotional strategies

• Attract, hire, develop and retain a high performing planning team

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Demonstrates strong analytical capability. Uses logical thought process to solve problems

• Proven ability to develop strong cross-functional relationships

• Adapts easily to changing situations and demonstrates flexibility in juggling priorities

• Proven experience leading and managing others

• Proficient in all MS Office applications. Advanced Excel skills a must

• Experience with JDA Enterprise Planning or Arthur Planning

• Comfortable conducting database queries and creating reports. Experienced at manipulating data from multiple sources

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 7 years of Merchandise Planning and/or Allocation experience

• Experience managing and leading a team
