JOB SUMMARY The Credit Risk Policy Manager leads and manages credit risk management policies of New York Community Bancorp, Inc., New York Community Bank and New York Commercial Bank while working with the Chief Credit Officer (CCO). Reports directly to the CCO and functions as a key member of the CCO Group. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develops and recommends policies, strategies and guidelines based on extensive knowledge of industry practices and industry regulatory requirements consistent with Credit Risk Management's goals and objectives. Applies knowledge of credit and underwriting methodology to: Analyze, develop, and recommend credit risk management policies and guidelines in conjunction with the Bank's Commercial Credit Policy Manual. Provide guidance and interpretation on credit related policies and issues. Perform work on a variety of credit related policies and guidelines on an as-needed basis. Works effectively with both Credit Risk Management team members and counterparts outside Credit Risk Management to ensure that input from their respective areas are considered and evaluated when developing policies and strategies. Develops and manages a variety of credit related policies and initiatives on an as-needed basis. Collaborates with the Environmental Risk Officer (ERO) to assess and minimize the Bank's exposure to the risk of loss and potential liability associated with loans secured by environmentally sensitive properties; and is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the Bank's compliance with this policy. Responsible for updating and maintaining all flood and fire insurance requirements as noted in the Commercial Credit Policy Manual.Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance. Minimum of 15 years related experience in commercial banking. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Proven ability to act as an advisor; counseling others to resolve technical challenges while meeting tight schedule deadlines. Demonstrated ability to create effective and timely resource utilization plans/schedules based upon assigned goals and objectives. Knowledge/background of commercial lending regulations Strong analytical and mathematical skills Strong leadership abilities to effectively lead cooperative efforts of project team members. Strong analytical/problem solving skills required. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Highest level of professionalism, self-motivation, adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. Strong managerial and communication abilities.
