This is an exciting opportunity in Rocky Mount, NC for a Controls Engineering Technician. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects. Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

Key Responsibilities Support the production operation by providing responses to all breakdowns to assist maintenance with related controls systems to minimize equipment downtime. Troubleshoot and perform all required electrical and controls systems on automated equipment. Alters software and equipment to ensure that sensors and actuators are functioning according to defined specifications; supports and debugs basic problems and change requests.

Support Controls related projects to ensure existing capabilities are maintained as required. May be responsible for the installation and technical support of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based hardware and software. Perform any minor mechanical work which may be required and insure a machine availability goal of 95% or higher is met.

Actively participate in the Skills Training Program for continuing skills improvement. Follow all safety practices and procedures; including lockout/tagout. Perform routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities.

Must be willing to go to school and/or additional training is needed. Other Work Demands Must be able to lift one to forty-five pounds frequently and seventy-five pounds or more infrequently with assistance. In addition, be able to wear hearing protection, interpret information by using visual acuity, hearing and speaking, gross and fine motor skills, work eight hours or more frequently and work rotating shifts.

Qualifications and Competencies Four years of applicable experience as a qualified controls support person in trouble-shooting and repair of electrical systems, relay, PLC and CNC controls for machine repair or machine building and maintenance. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in solving problems with electrical, electronic systems and PLC ladder logic. Proven experience in the use of electronics test equipment oscilloscopes, megohmeters, multimeters, signal generators, logic probes, etc.

Have a thorough understanding of ladder diagrams/logics and competent in the programming and troubleshooting of Modicon and Allen Bradley programmable controllers. Experience in running conduit, wire sizing, and installation. Have a thorough knowledge of 480V, 3 phase power systems and equipment.

Have a basic understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Demonstrated ability to read, create, and utilize prints and drawings of electrical, electronics, and programming systems.

Experience using precision instruments in either metric or English measurement systems.

Experience in maintaining SCR drives. Good understanding of CNC equipment. Experience in either automated transfer line or assembly equipment.

Must have ability to read pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical diagrams. Must have understanding of PCs and basic PC skills.

Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

Must be a proven self-starter, with a willingness to work in a team environment. Must have a working understanding of PC based systems (Microsoft). Must understand networking technologies (i.e. Ethernet/IP). Technical degree or an Associate's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering would be a plus.

May accept experience upon review. Continuous learning and improvement is required in this position. A Journeyman Electrical or Controls with a minimum of 4 years' experience.

Compensation and Benefits Base hourly rate commensurate with experience.
