We are currently seeking a Controller for our Alabama River Cellulose manufacturing facility located near Monroeville, Alabama. The Alabama River facility is within a 100-mile drive to the coastal cities of Mobile and Gulf Shores, Alabama and the beautiful beaches of Pensacola, Florida.  Airports in Mobile and Pensacola provide easy access to worldwide destinations.

The Controller role is a key member of the facility management team and reports to the Sr.  Division Controller of Containerboard / Cellulose. We are seeking someone with experience in managing accounting and internal financial controls in a manufacturing environment, as well as managing talent and developing people. This role works closely with various groups at the facility, including Purchasing, Engineering, IT, and Operations, making the ability to work collaboratively important for success.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

Provide fiduciary oversight and leadership for the mill

Assist the business in maintaining strong and efficient accounting processes and internal financial controls

Support the mill by promoting an environment of effective partnering with operating and business management, as well as the other capabilities

Effectively develop, train and prepare accounting employees for roles with increased responsibilities

Optimize talent to maximize value creation and enhance decision making

Support the GP Controllers Group vision and lead change

Seek, identify and capture innovation and process improvement opportunities

What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting or Business

Course work must include Intermediate Accounting and Cost Accounting

GPA of 3.0 or higher in Accounting or Finance coursework

At least FIVE years of Accounting and/or Financial Analysis experience

Prior experience with Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel - spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data analysis/manipulation and formula creation, etc., Microsoft Word,  and PowerPoint – presentation creation/editing)

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Proven Fiduciary skills and conceptual understanding of the design and purpose of internal controls
Clearly understand integrated financial systems
Proven capabilities of strong economic thinking and manufacturing analysis
Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
Requires strong customer focus and sense of urgency
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and planning and organizational skills
Must be flexible and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
Proactive/self-driven work habits with demonstrated ability to lead change and improve processes
Ability to mine and convert data into meaningful information through leveraging software and other state of the art tools

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a manufacturing accounting environment

Strong foundational knowledge of US GAAP, Cost Accounting and Inventory Accounting

Prior supervisory/leadership experience (direct or indirect)
