Summary

The Contractor Specialty Representative is responsible for adding value to all USG Sheetrock® Brand Joint Compounds

, Ready-Mix, Setting Type Compounds, Plasters,

Primers, Beads and Trim for

existing and potential customers . 

This role is heavily involved in jobsite visits and physical product demonstrations.  This position was specifically designed for USG to have face to face interaction and support for our end-users, Contractors, Distributors and GCs.   In this job, you will be supporting the USG sales team in all customer related concerns regarding the USG Joint Treatment Line including technical issues, market pricing, market intelligence, and product quality.  Ability to lift 60-80 lbs., drywall or related experience preferred (will be mixing, spraying and applying products as needed).

This position includes implementation of the marketing plan for current and future products, identifying new markets for existing products, and forecasting to ensure that the strategic direction of a product is in line with overall company goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This role is responsible for the Mid Atlantic territory (Maryland, Washington DC, Delaware and Virginia)   

Field product demonstration and promotion for all assigned products in both residential and commercial markets.

Use software to manage customers, track information and report results to management 

Participates in the identification and evaluation of new products.

Provides input on product development concepts and works closely with USG product management, USG Manufacturing and the local USG market sales force.

Interfaces with company Area Sales Managers, Building Systems Sales and USG Customer Service.

Provides technical support for drywall finishing contractor base.

Participates in the development of and implements the marketing plan for all assigned products.

Develops and maintains a forecasting mechanism as needed.

Provides feedback on promotional and advertising strategies.

Provides competitive analysis as requested.

Conducts training sessions for company personnel as well as stocking distributors.

Attends local, regional and national trade shows as those opportunities become available.


Willingness to travel

Strong written and verbal communication skills, specifically with contractors. Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Proven problem solver and decision maker.

Must be able to multi-task and meet numerous deadlines.

Reports to the Mid-Atlantic Area Manager


A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably at the contracting level. Drywall finishing experience is a plus.
