Consultant - Due Diligence

Eli Lilly and Company - Greenfield, IN

Due Diligence is the sanctioned, thorough, objective, and relationship-positive assessment and documentation of relevant strengths, weaknesses, benefits, and risks associated with investment opportunities of interest to Elanco. The investment opportunities typically include acquisition of and/or investment in external technology, molecules, companies, capacities and capabilities, and may involve ongoing collaboration. Within scope and of interest is also the divestiture of internal technology, molecules, facilities, capacities, and capabilities. The Elanco Business Development Due Diligence Group was formalized in 2014 to establish, lead, and ensure consistent application of a robust Due Diligence process for the evaluation of these investment opportunities, and to enable more informed investment decision-making.

The purpose of this job is to provide leadership of and critical support for the Due Diligence process and the teams engaged in it. These teams are virtual units composed of subject matter experts recruited from Elanco/Lilly functional areas relevant to each investment opportunity, and exist only for the duration of the Diligence exercise. The Due Diligence Consultant will assemble, train, lead, and support diligence teams, so that they can contribute effectively and efficiently to diligence projects. In addition, this role will help ensure consistency of diligence tools and processes across teams, and shared learning to drive Diligence process development. The Due Diligence Consultant also will be responsible for the documentation and reporting of Due Diligence results to key internal and external customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities: The due diligence consultant is responsible for diligence process ownership and execution for all Elanco business development transactions. This includes advising when and how to conduct diligence, assembling and leading cross-functional diligence teams, and communicating key findings to management in a timely and understandable fashion. The diligence consultant partners heavily with business development and R&D colleagues to make sure that diligence processes capture needed information and are conducted in a manner that provides a competitive advantage for Elanco.

Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership in the identification and rigorous, objective assessment of potential partnership opportunities, including the identification of key issues and appropriate expertise to facilitate resolution.

Mapping of technology landscapes.

Strategic thinking and planning related to new technologies investments.

Development and maintenance of portfolio of external projects.
