Tetra Tech is searching for a dynamic Construction Manager/Group Lead to be responsible for developing, marketing, and managing the Construction Services group. The group primarily supports our Water and Wastewater-focused business unit, but also performs construction management and inspection services for other service lines. The successful candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in the construction of public works projects, be capable of serving as the construction manager for projects, and serve as the primary point of contact with clients, while leading the development of the talent within the group.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors Represent the company to outside organizations and maintain client relations, assessing client needs, formulating technical approaches, and making presentations Confer with owners, contractors, design professionals, field staff, and the public to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems Supervise, manage, train, and hire staff Manage project labor schedules for inspectors, specialty inspectors, resident engineers, and construction managers Ensure safety, quality, and timely completion of projects in a manner consistent with contract documents and Tetra Tech policies Schedule projects in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines. Project cost tracking, adherence to schedule, and overall profitability Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to field staff, contractors, and owners Prepare proposals and develop estimates/bid proposals for change orders and new projects Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods Develop and implement quality control programs Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site Resolve technical and contractual issues in a decisive manner to keep projects on schedule and under budget Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans WORK ENVIRONMENT Construction Managers work out of the local office to perform group management, project management, and business development activities. Work from the field at the construction site will occur during activities to monitor project progress, staff training, coordination, and other duties.

Travel will be required. Extensive knowledge of civil construction principles/practices Minimum 15 years of experience in water infrastructure capital improvement project construction Experience leading successful project teams, including development of employees Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals in all levels of construction Ability to coordinate multiple, complex projects Conflict Resolution
