The Broadcast Construction Manager administers and

coordinates field-based construction activities on American Tower’s Broadcast

portfolio within a defined geographic region. 

The incumbent focuses on timeline adherence and the overall successful

implementation of construction initiatives for all project areas, including broadcast

tenant installations, technology upgrades, new site development, capital

improvements on existing assets and backup power.  The incumbent follows operating policies,

procedures and standards to ensure assets are constructed and preserved through

sound and consistent procedures.  The

incumbent must be highly versed in the operational complexities of broadcast

structures and facilities and ensure the utmost care is taken to maintain and improve

these assets while fostering a culture of safety.  All construction activities must be managed

within strict timelines and under national standards with a strong focus on

safety, quality, compliance and cost management.','!*!ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Work on construction projects with all levels of the Network

Development, Program Management, Engineering and Broadcast Operations teams;

manage budgets, schedules, vendors, site designs, and ordering of material; manage

and monitor progress, site utility coordination and closeouts.Collaborate with all levels of the Network Development,

Program Management, Engineering, Sales, Financial Planning & Analysis, and

Network Operations teams to drive operational efficiencies on

construction-related activities for the broadcast tower portfolio and execute field

team operational procedures to ensure consistent and continuous compliance by

all employees and vendors with applicable safety and regulatory requirements,

standards and protocols.Leverage Siterra as the database of record and maintain

milestones within the project database on a daily basis.  Communicates project updates and timelines to

all constituents.Ensure that all projects meet project timelines and deliver

quality products in compliance with the Company’s National Construction

Standards.Lead the development of site-specific tower, civil, and

building plans and cost projections for materials and services as they relate

to the FCC Television Broadcast Incentive Auction and Repack scenario projects,

including HVAC improvements, electrical upgrades, site civil changes, tower

structural modifications, RF removals and installationsAssist other employees and/or outsourced subcontract vendors

with the coordination and execution of structural and scenario feasibility

studies.Partner with Structural, Civil and RF Engineering teams to

outsource structural investigations, modification designs, RF studies and site

surveys in order to obtain pertinent data and costs for the creation and

routing of financial models for review and approval.Serve as main point of contact for Broadcast Construction

within assigned geographic area to ensure compliance of all employees and

vendors with internal safety and regulatory requirements.  In addition, provide problem resolutions and

create good working relationships between the client/customer and field

team.  Troubleshoot, negotiate and

mediate client or subcontractor problems or complaints that arise at site

level.Proactively identify potential risk concerns and collaborate

with the Senior Manager to develop a preventative action plan to address them.Provide effective problem resolutions to facilitate change

improvements and improved working relationships between the client/customer and

field team.Work with the Senior Manager to develop construction

management techniques and innovations that improve processes and efficiencies

between the wireless and broadcast construction teams.Coordinate with the Supply Chain team to identify, partner

and develop preferred broadcast vendors to perform design and construction

activities.Coordinate RF power turndown with tenants, contractors, and

affected vendors prior to construction activities.Review close-out packages to ensure all pertinent documents

are present; properly archive the close-out documents.Create clear and concise scopes of work for all aspects of

assigned projects, and perform material take-off from design drawings that

include quantities, volumes, and weights.

Demonstrated knowledge of managing broadcast site

construction through prior experience in either network deployment projects or

construction management responsibilities in the broadcast industry.Strong knowledge of tall tower engineering, safety

protocols, grounding rigging, civil engineering and shared antenna systemsWorking knowledge of applicable engineering and construction

codesSound financial analysis and budgeting skills.Ability to read and decipher complex structural plans and

A&E designsSelf-motivated; able to work both independently to complete

tasks and respond to department requests and with others to utilize their

resources and knowledge to identify quality solutions.Knowledge of HVAC, electrical and backup power systemsStrong relationship-development skills resulting in

Four-year college degree in Business, Planning, Engineering,

Construction Management or equivalent work experience in the wireless site

development industry required.Between 3–5 years of work experience in wireless site

construction and/or carrier deployment required




Approximately 20% performed in climate-controlled internal

office environment working under normal office conditions.  Approximately 80% travel may be required in

support of the position’s responsibilities.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is

regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and

handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear.  While performing the duties of this job, the

employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or

exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
