Job Summary:


This position supports a wide variety of projects and initiatives primarily related to media relations, stakeholder communications, social media, digital platforms, video and audio production, and marketing in alignment with FINRA’s strategic objectives. The person in this role manages projects, works closely with various team members to develop content and prepare materials for external engagements, and other special projects. 


Essential Job Functions:

  • Fields media requests, researches information to respond to inquiries and assumes all facets of media relations responsibilities for certain business areas;

  • Monitors and analyzes FINRA media coverage, tracks key messages and edits daily early morning newsletter;

  • Drafts news releases and develops media materials for senior spokespeople including media briefings, talking points and Q&A’s;

  • Assists in development of executive speeches, podcasts and video recordings, including conducting interviews of subject experts;

  • Writes compelling, crisp content for web, digital media and social media; and

  • Other responsibilities, as assigned.

  • Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in public relations/communications or journalism required; prior experience in financial services communications and/or agency environment strongly preferred;

  • Energetic self-starter and constant learner who is proactive, resourceful, creative and works effectively in a dynamic, collaborative environment;

  • Demonstrated project management skills with attention to detail;

  • Ability to work well under pressure; anticipate and adapt to continually changing workload priorities; and effectively manage multiple tasks;

  • Must possess strong writing, editing and proofreading skills; able to convey complex information in clear, engaging ways;

  • Exercises excellent judgment;

  • Willingness to perform a wide variety of tasks;

  • Must have excellent relationship-management skills; and

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and competency in all social media platforms.
