Commodity Manager

Esterline is seeking a Commodity Manager to join a growing supply chain department. The Commodity Manager is responsible for managing and developing the Supplier base for Korry. Commodity Managers develop and execute strategies for all purchased commodities. Commodity Managers oversee a range of suppliers to reduce the supply base, improve cost and performance and leverage the overall business relationship. They select suppliers, negotiate agreements, establish pricing and execute all types of contracts. Commodity Managers are accountable for the overall supplier performance with regard to Cost, Quality, Delivery and Innovation. They support and implement Supply Chain initiatives and best practices.

Some of the Primary Responsibilities

Build and Manage the Supply Base

Define strategies per commodity with action plans based on supplier segmentation, business requirements, market surveys, and benchmarking

Set up supplier agreements to include Long Term Agreements, Blanket Purchase Orders, Kanbans, etc

Leverage the business and Enterprise to increase supplier performance

Manage work transfer projects as needed

Conduct regular Supplier Business Reviews and manage ongoing action plans

Perform Risk Mitigation activities for the commodity and supplier base

Monitor schedules and scopes of assigned commodities to ensure the best value for Korry

Drive Performance Improvement and Operational Excellence

Establish and communicate standards and expectations to Suppliers related to Cost, Quality, Delivery and Innovation

Manage and monitor performance with tools such as scorecards and driver metrics

Manage Continuous Improvement plans and activities at supplier with improvement targets, driver measures, and supplier action plans, and progress plans for suppliers with poor performance

Maintain supplier information and supplier quality files

Resolve supplier issues as escalated within the Value Stream

Request Corrective Action Plans and Root Cause Analysis for quality, cost and logistic issues

Supplier Integration- Supplier Development

Evaluate and recommend sources of supply considering project and Korry needs

Support development of sourcing strategies for new technologies or commodities

Inform Korry project team members of supply chain strategies and supplier technology capabilities

Ensure availability of necessary supplier resources to support new programs as needed

Work to improve supplier metrics; lead time reduction, cost reduction, quality improvement and on time delivery improvement

Develop Requests for Proposal/ Quotes, identify appropriate sources of supply, evaluate proposals and conduct work statement award and contract negotiations

Basic Qualifications needed for this position

Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Operations management or Engineering

8 or more years of supply chain related experience

ERP/ MRP experience required

Contract negotiation experience

If you have additional experience with:

Previous Aerospace, Medical or Automotive Work Experience

APICS or CPM Certification a plus

Knowledge of Supply Chain and Operational Excellence principles and systems

Operations, project management experience
