PositionSummary

The Clinical Specialist demonstrates quality in all

actions; Manages the development, administration, and, distributor and customer

education programs pertinent to Medtronic HeartWare’s products and

technology. Formulates and implements

policies and procedures, and participates in all facets operational decision

making pertaining to the programs of the organizational unit. Trains and educates investigators/customers

on proper use of the Medtronic HeartWare Ventricular Assist Device (HVAD)

product and technology. Works with surgeons, nurses, research coordinators,

cardiologists and other hospital personnel to facilitate optimal outcomes

during implant, post-operative care and long-term use of the HVAD system. Supports Field Sales on providing the best

possible outcomes and service for our customers. Works closely with Sales team

and provides case support to wider team when required. Will partner with Chief

Medical Officer on case analysis, trouble shooting and clinical trial support. Collaborates with Marketing/Product

Management, Engineering and Clinical Affairs on key projects and

initiatives. Works on problems of

moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a

variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices

to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working

relationships.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Providesleadership and direction in all aspects of the establishment, implementation,promotion, and administration of the clinical education activities, to includeassessment, curriculum planning, communications and clinical skillsdevelopment, and educational support

Developingprofessional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve avariety of issues.

Maintaincontact with customers to evaluate their clinical and educational needs

Developand execute clinical education programs designed to enhance user competencies

Cultivatesclose relationship with strategic business partners, including all trainingcenters and opinion leaders

Providesnew employee training on products, technology and materials

Assistin developing objectives, and programs for marketing and selling the Company’sproducts

Providesnursing and/or medical expertise in the development, implementation, and casereports, journal articles and clinical reports from clinicians

Plans,directs, and coordinates educational workshops, and other programs, events, andactivities

Leadsefforts to place speakers on podiums at key conferences

RepresentsHeartWare at conferences and symposiums

Responsiblefor initiating site contacts, providing technical and clinical support tocustomers

Workwith other departments to establish priorities for the Company direction, newproduct development, and customer satisfaction

Inputto management any and all situations affecting clinical results and sales

ical Lead, Clinical Management and Regional Sales team to provide customer case and sales support.

Identifies and facilitates execution on growth opportunities with Sales and Clinical Support Team.

Serves as a technical resource to support sales of a specific medical product or solution.

MUST HAVE - BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’sDegree

Minimum5 years of clinical experience

NICE TO HAVE - DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Medicaldevice sales within cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology or endovascularsurgery

Demonstratedcardiac operating theatre and/or cath lab experience

MBAor graduate degreee preferred.

BS/BAdegree in relevant field/discipline required such as Nursing, BiomedicalScience, Business Administration,Marketing or equivilent

Clinicaltrial experience within medical device space is a bonus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to develop and present educational programsand/or workshops

Skill in examining and re-engineering operationsand procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing newstrategies and procedures

Skill in organizing resources and establishingpriorities

Knowledge of adult education and communicationprinciples and practices

Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and writtencomminication skilees and the ability to communicate and work effectivelywithin a diverse community

Sitting, standing and/or walking for up toeight plus hours per day

Environmental exposures include eyeprotection, infectious disease and radiation

Ability to wear 7-9 lbs of lead for extendedperiods of time while in the O.R.

Frequently required to use hands to finger,handle or feel objects, tools or controls

Ability to effectively use a mobile phone,PC, keyboard and mouse

Frequent bending/stooping, squatting andbalance

Specific vision abilities required by thisjob include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability toadjust focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer

Must be able to drive approximately 80% ofthe time within assigned territory.

Clinical Specialists are required to bewithin their assigned territory each day to be available as unscheduled needsarise. CS’s are required to work a number of weekend and holidays during thequarter, as determined by local management.Weeknight call coverage is the primary responsibility of the Sales Rep,however, at times, business and/or geographical needs require a CS to bescheduled for week night coverage as approved by regional management.

Must have a valid driver's license andactive vehicle insurance policy. In addition, your driving record will bereviewed and will be considered as part of your application.

Travel Requirements:

Minimum travel of 50%
