Department ProfileThe Equity Derivatives Practice Area Group provides technology to support flow, exotic and securitized equity derivative trades as well as equity swaps trades from inception to maturity. Our applications support pre-trade activities like product structuring, price discovery, pricing and request-for-quote; and post trade activities. like capturing trade facts and market events, maintaining intraday risk positions, analyzing risk scenarios and providing risk reports.

Background on the TeamOur team's main business area is the over-the-counter (OTC) trading of equity derivatives. Our application is the Firm?s strategic trade capture and structured note issuance system. It is a complex distributed global platform consisting of a set of loosely coupled backend components primarily written in Scala and Java and user interface components written in WPF/C# and HTML5/Javascript. The system has the enviable position of being central to much of the Firm?s OTC sales and trading activities, both as an application in its own right and also as a service hub for many other systems.

The team in New York is a part of a global team of about 70 developers distributed in 6 offices worldwide. Being in a business center we work closely with Sales, Trading and Operations on a daily basis. Our typical day is a mix of communication, planning, design, development, production support and testing. We also work closely together with other development teams globally to resolve complex and exciting business or technology challenges overarching business and technology divisions.

Primary ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a technically proficient Java, Scala or C# developer with at least 2 years' experience in application development of client facing applications. The candidate will work closely together with local trading desks and front-office operations to ensure smooth user experience and continuous improvement of the trading platform driven by latest business requirements. The position will require excellent hands-on software development skills and good analytical and communication skills the same time. This role comes with a high exposure to the Equity Derivatives business and will be a great foundation for further career advancement. The successful candidate will have a bachelor or master degree in Computer Science or similar. Equity Derivatives Product Knowledge would be advantageous, a desire to work in a financial business is essential.','!*!Skills required (essential)
