_Rapides Regional Medical Center is currently hiring a Clerk in the Emergency Department (ER)_

The Emergency Department Clerk must be capable of displaying a calm, tolerant appearance, handle the stress of a crisis situation, work efficiently and effectively with fellow employees and must accept responsibility for his/her actions and maintain a professional attitude.The clerk also needs to practice good interpersonal relations in meeting the public and with other hospital personnel.

_Primary Job Duties_

: * The complete and accurate pre-registration of all Emergency Department patients * Completes all necessary information for proper billing and filing of insurance. * Keeps a complete and accurate Emergency Department log book. * Keep record of Trauma log * Order entry as needed (CPOE and written orders) * Answering the phone, taking messages as allowed. * Assisting in charting during resuscitations * Keeps clerical supplies well stocked and work stations neat and clean. Professional appearance at desk. * Able to locate and use appropriate forms * Has basic knowledge of medical control phone * Knows down-time processes * Knows how to perform disaster / alias / urgent registrations * Able to retrieve medical records * Updates ancillary log board * Enters updated information in the automated patient tracking system. * Active participant in PI/CQI projects within the ED and in conjunction with other departments as appropriate. * Files paperwork * Performs Departure/ED dashboard screens. Actively gives paper/chart back to nurse to complete documentation * Reviews Fastracker * Reviews charts for completeness and places them in number order * Run Outlier Report and makes necessary corrections * Answer call bells * Immediately acknowledge anyone who approaches the desk * Willing to learn job duties of an ER Tech in addition to those of an ER Clerk


* High School diploma or equivalent * CPR for healthcare provider required within 30 days of hire
